Crucial MX300 SSD 1050GB Review

"Let's have a look at the 1050TB model"

Even I'd have trouble filling that

You would be surprised how quickly we could fill it. All out GPU benchmark games alone would take up most of it.

It is nice that this SSD does offer quite a large capacity, as 1050GB is a lot more than the 960GB drives we commonly see these days.

1050TB though :D:D:D

Oh, right. A Petabyte would be amazing! Would love that.

Well... 1050GB is enough, for now.

$/GB is still crap. Take the new DOOM game for example; it already uses 70GB on it's own, in fact there are a few recent games that have reached the 40GB+ mark this past year. Swapping around such large files will ensure your SSD dies in no time, I guess that's just what they all want in the end. ;)

I have the first drive they released in the MX300 series, the limited edition 750GB, it's been a great little drive and well worth the great discount price I got it for, when they where first released.

TBH, even if you use it like crazy with games, its still not going to die very quickly.

Ive had 8x 1TB Samsung pro ssds in my NAS for about 2 years and they are perfectly fine. I transfer massive amounts of data per day (most not necessary, just too lazy to set change something thats been working fine for me).

My next build, I want to be platter free. Part of that plan is to set up a NAS and keep my game installers on it. That way, even if I only keep 5 of my most frequently played games installed, I can reinstall anything at anytime with no download. It makes smaller SSD's a lot more palpable.

Guessing you're not a gamer then :) GTA V + Assasin's Creed Syndicate + the upcoming Dishonored 2 = around 200GB of storage required. That's 20% capacity used up with just three games and two of those games are pretty ancient! 1 TB does not go very far for the kids these days :)

It was a play on the mistake of saying TB not GB, 1050GB is easily enough filled
