Crosshair V Formula - Z
Hey Guys, just after some help. I have a Crosshair and i am having problems. I keep getting a pesky error 66 or 80 on my motherboard. Has anyone else had the same problem?

I am currently running:
Crosshair V formula - Z
16GB Corsair vengeance Pro 1600Mhz
AMD FX-8370 oct core @ 4.3Ghz
BIOS version 2101
2 x XFX HD6790 in Xfire
128 GB SSD
640GB WD black

Thanks in advance :)

Did you update the bios? I say this because you are using an 8370 which may require a bios update. I mean, it shouldn't, but you never know.

Hi, Yes the BIOS has been updated. But even before the update when i was running an AM3 socket cpu i had the same problem. I have tried different speeds of pan in case it was that causing the issue. Unfortunately the error stops AI suite from preforming any overclocks. Its now getting rather annoying!!!! Thanks Phil

Hi I have tried the above but annoyingly i am still getting the errors on the q code display. I am finding that the system becomes very unstable whilst overclocking even if you don't even push the CPU i.e 4.3 Mhz i am beginning to wonder whether a reformat would help.....or try some different RAM......Thanks

Have you checked the manual to see what the qcodes stand for?

It could just be poor overclocking procedures.

code 66 = cpu dxe initialization is started.

Most likely causes being either a bad ram module, badly seated ram or a bent pin.

As you've had this problem with 2 cpus can probably rule out a bent pin, try re-seating your ram first as often the retainer clips look closed but are not, if that don't work test your memory

Code 80 is not in the manual but means your system is using a Win8 capable BIOS and has handed over AHCI to OS, you can ignore this code it's meaning is harmless

Codes can be found here if you no longer can find the manual for your board.

Hi I have 2 different lots of RAM in this PC both corsair vengeance pro. the first lot was 2400 mhz so origonaly i thought i have bought the wrong speed so i returned it and got 1600 mhz. I have taken the RAM out and re inserted it but made no difference. I am currently using windows 7 64 bit. What i have noticed when i use Ai Suite it will not change any of the settings for the RAM. I have also noticed if i open ROG system info i also get the same fault 66 or 80. Really appreciate your help guys :)
