Hi there,

Just wondering if people can here could let me know generally whats sort of temps an AMD 64 @ 2.4ghz should be. According to speedfan on stock cooling its hitting 40 - 45 with quite good loading on it (photoshop, net browsing, general stuff). The chip sits in a silverstone LC03 case that only had 1 x 60mm fan on the back

Ive also an amd 4000 in a desktop case (lc 16) with stock cooling and wondering what sort of stock temps that should be for when ihave a look at it.

Thanks for the reply, what got me wondering was that I downloaded a speedfan profile and it was trying to keep the cpu below 40, hence the fan coming on and off.

Just replaced it with a silverstone NT05 and im not that impressed, its a bit cooler but nothing great and it can be noisy. The fact that its manually controlled means that speedfan doesnt control it which I quite like.

perhaps a better heatsink then, i have a thermalright ultra90 and it cools my cpu to 45celsius full load overclocked to 2.43ghz 1.5-1.54vcore and its 27-28c in here and the fan is set to low speed through a fanmate2 so its very quiet.

AS raven said, aftermarket HSF is your best option.

Most will perform but most recomended are the XP-90/120s from thermalright.

I suggest you get a AC freezer 64 pro. They ant too expensive but a little big.

Anothr thing is use AS5 insted of the stock gunk.

If I am lucky i will stay under 40 C. and by lucky I mean have a fan blowin in with the case window open... it is jsut about 100F everyday down here in sunny san diego... well atleast inland where I am at.
