CPU Spec RAM compatability

I want to build a budget Skylake build this Christmas and when I was looking at the specs of the i5-6500 i noticed the following:

"Supported memory: DDR3L-1333, DDR3L-1600, DDR4-1866, DDR4-2133"

Does this mean if I used any DDR4 RAM over 2133 I won't get any benefits?

it would seem like it, can't find anything that would say otherwise.

in the worst case you can just mess with timings to increase performance.

afaik i7 supports 2666.

The supported memory is what Intel says their CPU's will support but you will generally find you can go above that, you will probably find you will be able to run 3000 speed ram without much issues and probably faster than that too, If you are just mainly gaming with it though 3000 would be fine
