CPU socket pin looks bent?

I have just installed a E8400 into a Asus P5K-E and its happily crunching through Orthose at 3.6Ghz BUT before I put the CPU in the socket I noticed a pin that looked bent on the far right of the CPU socket, I installed the CPU anyway hoping one small pin wouldn’t effect anything, and as far as I can see it hasn’t, It starts up fine and has been running Orthos for just about 30Mins at 3.6Ghz with no problems. If the single pin wasn’t in contact with the CPU would it not boot at all?? Or could it just hinder performance?

Thanks

My advice would be keep testing. If orthos/3dm/superpi/games are stable i wouldnt worry

All seems good, Iv got it to 4Ghz without touching the voltage and orthos has been running for 1 hour and 25~ mins, Dont think i have any socket problems, Lets keep out fingers crossed! :)

Agreed. How old is your motherboard, and how many times have you installed a processor in it? According to Intel, iirc, the socket is only warranted for approximately 20 CPU installs. ASUS don't use cheaper sockets, so if you end up having any issues you should be fine with the RMA process anyway. But so far things appear to be working a treat.
