CPU Advice

Hi, here is the spec of my rig...

Intel i5 4670k (swiftech h320 cooler)
Sapphire Tri-X 290 OC
16GB Corsair Dominator Platinum 2133mhz
Gigabyte Z87XOC

I recently heard about Watch Dogs needing a 4770k for ultra setting and was wondering if it was worth selling the i5, and get the i7 for gaming.

I honestly think thats a load of bs, but I cant be sure. Not many games take advantage of hyper-threading and I'm not expecting Watch Dogs to. I might be wrong though, so be sure to consider the advice of others ;)

I got an offer of £140 on the CPU so minus fees etc, it would be a £92 cost to upgrade to the i7... plus a hassle too :p

If you are actually going to use an i7 for non-gaming like photo/video editing and that sort of stuff, and i7 would be usefull. However, I dont think the upgrade is worth it JUST for Watch Dogs (and thats only if your sources are correct)

yeh think I will stick with the 4670k! Just keep hearing all this talk about games using 8 cores now, and in the future due to next gen consoles.

These "next gen consoles" are really a load of rubbish. Even thinking that they will use 8 cores anytime soon makes me chuckle. Some day, games will though, but not anytime soon, I think.

Unless the game somehow needs hyperthreading to run 'well' the i5 will equal it. You can OC the balls off your i5 anyway thanks to that cooler so I'd stick with your i5 :P.
