What they have underestimated is the mad flocking behaviour of the "early adopter". I go in the other direction; last gen's prices usually fall. The "early adopter" is most often actualy a Beta Tester. Come to think of it, reviewers are often in that position, hence "the silicon lottery" (Shouldn't that be silly-CON?) and "launch-day bios/early drivers" prominence as caveat in reviews. Not that this is made obvious; this is usually coupled with some ego-massaging fluff about how competent and quick off the mark bios and driver teams are. If they are that good, shouldn't all that have been rectified before launch?
Congratulations on getting in under the wire about getting one of these; and fingers crossed it does what it says on the tin. I envy you the bump in performance, and the pleasure; but not sufficiently to take that gamble myself or the hit on my wallet for what seems a poor return on investment.
