Corsair Vengeance 8GB getting bsod at 1600 but not 1333

I have just bought Corsair vengeance 8GB 1600Mhz ram but I can't get it to run at 1600 with the system freezing. It runs perfectly at 1333MHz.Could someone please help me. Thanks.

specs:

AMD phenom II X4 955 @4Ghz

mobo-asus M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3

AMD radeon HD 6770.

No you have to go into the BIOS and set the specified timing of your RAM.

ok, i just went to the bios and all the timings were set to auto so i set them to the stock timings. also when i changed from 1333 to 1600 it asked me if i need more volatage. i said no. have i done everything right? thanks so much mate.

No i tried that but still got bsod. do you think its bum memory?

Increase the voltage by 0.05 and check again.

What set of vengeance have you got as different colours do require different volts and timings (also high profile or low profile)

What is your CPU settings?

What PSU have you got?

i am using the stock settings for the ram.

i have the black 8gb vengeance http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=467128473&pf_rd_i=468294

cpu is at 4ghz with no voltage changes. multiplier set at 20.

i have a cheap xenta 700w psu.

I would put it down to the CPU overclock

with the ram @1333 have you tried running something like Prime95 for 8 hours or OCCT for 1 hour to see if it is stable

never known any CPU to do 4GHz with no voltage adjustment and still be stable

my cpu is defo stable. had it at 4ghz since christmas. never had a problem before and i have run prime for bout 3 hours. just gunna set the ram at 1333 and be done with it. is even much noticeable difference between 1333 and 1600?

only real difference will if you use a lot of programs on a daily basis that requires fast ram

Hate to say it, but 3 hours of prime isn't really enough. Try something like intel burn test for quick results, or leave prime on for a decent number of hours (8+).
