Corsair RM450

Hi guys, I'm building myself a gaming rig and this winter I'm going to buy a gtx 870. Because my current power supply is a bit lazy, I'm going to upgrade to the Corsair RM450. Now, my problem is that everywhere I look, I can't tell if this power supply has two 6+2 PCI connectors. Because it's a high end card, escluding some suprises tha Maxwell can come with, I think I'm going to need those two connectors. Also in the photos I see that there is only one 8 pin entry for the PCI, but in the specs it says two and I'm very confused about this, furthermore in the official photos of the cables I can only see one PCI connector, so, please, someone who has the PSU or has seen it, please, enlighten me if I can even use this thing. TTL has done a video paring it with a gtx 780ti, but if I'm going to buy an 80€ 450W power supply I want to be 100% sure.

That image above sure looks like there's 2 6+2 PCI connectors, at least on the PSU anyway, the connectors that hook into the Graphics card should be the same too, I'd be amazed if they aren't.

Trouble is, Corsair's website isn't exactly forth coming with information, and it's not a very popular PSU so reviews are hard to find.

I actually have the very same PSU in a family PC (although only with onboard video) ; I can check later today.

@Asen

Here you go, these are the connectors for the RM450.

2 PCI 6+2 pin power connectors.

The best prices I have found in England for the RM's have been at Dabs, I think there is £3.99 postage on them all. While all three i'm sure would provide adequate power and all feature two 6+2 connectors apart from the 650 which has four, I think you will agree that the RM550 represents the best value. I guess this may not be the same in every market but just saying in your shoes i'd get a 550.

450 - 68.98
550 - 67.99
650 - 79.99

Just to add to that like most modular Corsair PSU's they use pigtail style connectors with two 6+2's on one single cable. If you wanted a real OCD sleeving job with two 8 pin cables coming from the PSU out to the GPU then you would need a 650 or above as they have more 8 pin outputs. If you were making custom cables you could always split them somewhere in the middle or put a short extension on each one and still make a tidy job with a 450 or a 550 if you don't like pigtails. (ignore this last paragraph if your not an aesthetic obsessed clean freak like me, I just thought you might find it helpful if you were)

Well, considering what you have sent me and you have writen, I still need to know just one more thing. From the image that MaddenShadow sent you can clearly see that you can put only one cable in the PCI entry. Zoot, you posted me two cables, but how can two cables fit in a single entry? Becuase my GPU will probably need two cables and there's only one entry do those two cables converge in a single one. If this wasn't clear enough, tell it to me, because this is my true problem and I need to resolve it.

I mean, is its cable something like this?

This is what I intended, so if you say it's like this I should be ok.
JR23, I live in Italy and her the 450 is €81.30, the 550 €88.90 and the 650 €107.90. Knowing that my GPU should as gentle as a butterfly when it comes to power usage, I think I actually do not need the 550W version. Thanks a lot for the help guys.

I think the cable going from the PSU will likely split over into two 6+2 pin pci-express power connectors. Fairly standard and will be fine

Just like this buddy except not sleeved. (this is from an AX860 but is the same type Corsair use on all of their recent PSU's.

Yep the RM series have a split 6+2 cable, like Tom said daisy chained. I ran into a similar problem when I ordered my custom sleeved cables, I was running 2 7950's but when using the cables that came with the unit, you get enough to run 4 8 pins, but you only have 2 actual cables and connections on the psu end, I had to order a pair of little extensions allowing me to run 4 bales from to connections.

Original Corsair ones come with daisy chains too - if you look I use them in the videos loads to help keep the look cleaner
