Corsair RM 650

I have a Corsair RM650 80+Gold 650 Power Supply it works fine but I`m a little worried at the heat being generated.
As you are aware these PSU are passive until and the fan will only turn on when needed, this has never happened yet and was wondering is there a way of testing to see if the fan does turn on, or even better that I get get it to stay on.

Well judging from your signature (when I click it, might be nice to include your full specs in the OP) you're running a 760 which doesn't draw that much power. I don't think mine ever spins up either, and I have the same PSU and GPU.

The only way to find out is run a CPU and GPU stress test at the same time, but even then I doubt it will be enough. Tom only managed to draw 430 Watts doing that on an overclocked i7 and GTX 780 Ti. I also do not know the minimum voltage it must pull before the fan spins up, but Grey_Beard might now the answer to that. AFAIK it is load dependent and not actually related to the temperature of the unit.

The only way to find out is hook it up to higher end hardware and stress test it.

Yeah what Feronix said... but basically, if your PCs boots up and the PC doesn't crash or anything, then all good. Nothing to worry about :D.

Corsair are quality units after all ;) ... Running an HX750i myself and the ONLY time I see mine spin up, is right when I power on my PC, then it spins down again and never really turns on untill powering the PC again :).

I've got the same PSU and I first managed to get the fan running when I overclocked the living hell out of my I7 and gtx770 total system draw back then was over 400 watts. And even then it was barely moving. Your system will never make it run

You can get a cable for it IIRC and use the link software to turn the fan on. I really wouldnt worry though tbh

I've never seen the fan on my RM650 spin up, running an i5 and GTX780Ti Matrix Platinum, even with some big overclocks. Corsair PSU's monitor temperature and load parameters, the fan will spin when it needs to but I very much doubt it ever will with a 760. They are epic PSU's for the money.

As far as I can remember, it's combination of both load and temp, just don't remember exactly what the numbers are... but I can find out.

Masses thanks to you all and I do agree they the best PSU.:)

Best indeed ;) And like what everybody said, you have nothing to worry about :)

No he can't TTL it is not an "i" series PSU.

Cause clearly this stands for Comedy-Link

I have cable for the comedy link ;) but I tried to get the Corsair link software but the web just took me too the Corsair Fan controller link.
