Corsair PSU

Hi Guys just wondering if anyone out there knows if corsair do repairs for cash on their psu's ?

I was braiding the atx 24 pin on my hx 1050 and managed to break one of the pins inside the clip i got it out and replaced it but the corsair pins appear to be larger and more sturdy than the ones u can buy over the internet , and im not confident that the pin will stay in the slot because it is loose , so obviously this wont be covered by warranty but i am wondering if anyone has had experience with corsair for doing repairs on items outside warranty?

No mate they wont do it. All they repair is warranty stuff.

Now the warranty is void they cant touch it in case something went wrong.....

That is fair enough i guess , any suggestions on where might do that type of repair , or should i replace the psu? that would have been my first thought but it seems a real waste

I know it's probably quite a lot of effort...

But you could always buy a new 24pin connector housing, cut all the pins off and replace them with standard sized pins?

If you sent it away to anyone, I'd probably guess that's all they'd be able to do anyway. If you can do it yourself it would save you quite a lot of money if you could even find someone else to do it. I can't imagine anyone being prepared to resolder all pins like that not charging you a fair amount of money.

Probably best to buy a new one I think - or look on ebay for a second hand one or something. Tbf - 1000w is massively overkill for your system anyway so you could get away with replacing your PSU with a TX650/HX650 - or even go for a Silverstone Strider and get a fully modular power supply that's far easier to braid anyway.

thanks mate , not a bad idea , i have contacted corsair about the problem and they told me to put in an rma and see what they say , im currently waiting on the reply ,and if that doesnt work out i think your idea might be the way to go , much appreciated , i'll let you know how it all goes , thanks much appreciated

I recently swapped out my regular AX-1200 cables for the red braided ones so have a spare 24 pin power connector but dont know if itll be compatible.
Quite happy to ship it out 2 u providing u pay for the shipping.

I was considering saying the same thing.
So you know though - if you have to RMA your PSU, you need to send back the complete set of cables - meaning you'd be effectively voiding your own warranty doing this, unless you can get someone else to send you a new cable. Not really something I'd want to deal with when trying to sort out an RMA as fast as possible.

first off thanks everyone for the offers, and i had considered canabalising other cables but the atx has different pins to the rest of the cables , as far as your offer to ahip that atx cable i appreciate it but i wouldnt wanna leave you in the lurch for an rma if u need it , i figure if i can find a dead corsair psu (not an easy task mind you) i might canabalise something like that for the pins

And i got a response from corsair they dont do repairs

Really dude its no biggy.
I really do have lots of spare cables as I ordered a complete new set of braided ones from corsair.
They`re just sitting there doing nothing. The braided cables offer so much better magnetic shielding from the regulars that i doubt very much I`ll be using them again.
Just private message me and ill send it out 2 u for free if u live in the UK:)
