They can. Just must do it differently enough to warrant them not filing a cease and desist. Honestly shame on Asus for patenting safety technology on an industry standard. Goes to show how crap this cable is to begin with.

As unneeded as this OTP should be, at least Corsair made it universal and not expensive. So in context good on them.

Yes, they would need to figure out a way to achieve the same thing in a slightly different way. Hopefully they can. That said, Corsair's current cables seem more than good enough to be "safe".
