I don't see what the whole debate about the PSU shroud hole was for banging on about 45°'s and long PSU's. With a 160mm PSU and a Fury X or short PCB 970 it would be great placement. IE. if you have short cards and trailing cables around the motherboard isn't tidy then there is a neat little hole so you can go straight down. If you've got a big card it's still neat to go around and ignore it. It's a tiny and pretty hole compared with those 3 gaping gaps behind the front fans and with the rising popularity of high power short PCB cards it's a niche that Corsair couldn't ignore for the sake of consumers and SI's.
It should come as no surprise that mass production cases have too many holes and are a cluttered mess of features, that's been standard protocol since the 650D era which really was the pinnacle for Corsair. I do agree they have forgotten how to make a nice clean motherboard tray (see 500R).
This does make quite a lot of sense and is efficiently laid out for a tower case. Quality and neatness seems to be what you would expect for the price. Personally like yourself I think the shroud is completely unnecessary and with a neater drive bay mounting mechanism that would of been a cleaner more practical route to go down. However I don't think that's what the market thinks, the popularity of over-shrouded and hideous footed Phanteks is undeniable and Corsair have followed suit with their own style.
As an award for a volume production case from a typical consumer perspective Gold was right, as an enthusiast i'd expect less and want to pay more for something a bit cleaner so this would be silver/bronze but that's the perspective of a minority.
