Think i originally posted in the wrong section, sorry admin

Firstly heres my spec:

AMD Am2 6000+ 3.01Ghz duel core

Zalman 9700 pure copper cpu cooler

Asus cross hair mobo

corsaire dominator 2x1gig 800mhz

550w arctic PSU

2x 128mg xfx geforce 6600gt SLI

one 500gig hdd SATA2

2 of these case fans http://www.specialtech.co.uk/spshop/...cat=525&page=1

one as an inlet at the front of my case and one as an exhaust at the top rear

I HAVE NOT OVERCLOCKED THIS SETUP IT IS ALL FACTORY SETTINGS

When ive been using my pc for a while if i check the cpu temps in the bios its usually around 50 degrees and the cooler spins at around 3125rpm the mobo temp is usually around 10 degress cooler than the cpu.

Is this about normal for my setup as my system seems quite noisy compared to before i upgraded it. i thought buying that really good zalman cooler would keep the npise down, and i bought my case fans as they are pretty much silent, and my psu doesnt make much noise.

should i consider other cooling options like a northbridge heatsink or something as i would really like to make my pc quieter?

when i built my pc i made sure all cables were routed well out of the way to optimise airflow.

cheers guys

i dont think the cpu cooler is the problem as its a very good one, also why would i need a fan controller? to turn the speed down? surely if i did this the temps would rise. i can do this in the bios anyway.

anymore ideas?

can you find out the model of the cpu cooler and also tell me whether the case fans are 120mm or 80mm as the link isnt working thanks

i mite be able to help u a bit better :)

turning a coolers speed down wolnt neciseraly make it run hotter my pc runs about the same temp with the fan on 3/4ths the speed as on full speed but at 3/4th its a hell of a lot quieter

What thermal material are you using on the cpu heatsink?

On cheapy white goo mine runs at about 50 degrees full load, 40 degrees full load with Arctic Silver.

heres the link to my cpu cooler http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/125309 is absolutly massive!

the case fans are 80mm, and im using the zalman thermal grease that cam with the cooler in a little pot, i only used a tiny amount.

i have just installed asus pc probe 2 which displayed all sorts of temps and voltages and 3 of them are in the red:

CPU-NB HT 1.39v

DDR2 TERM 1.18v

DDR2 2.37v

what do these mean? also i can enable/disable magnetic?

heres a pic of the monitoring stuff maybe it will help.

i wouldent worrie software dosnt always read voltages correctly its best to test with a multimeater

also dosnt sound like the case is getting allot of cold air into it so that would lead too it being warmer too

its best to have a case that can use 120mm fans of you are building a performance pc

is there a place on the case side for another fan if there is put it as an intake fan blowing onto the hs

my case wont allow me to mount a 120mm fan anywhere, the power supply has a really big fan sucking air up from the case and another fan blowing it out the back and that must be doing most of the air shifting from my case. maybe i should consider a new case then. i dont want to spend a fortune and it needs to be as quiet as possible.

120mm fans tend to be quieter

there are some cheap 120mm cases out there

>Great case for under £20<

you can get 4 120mm fans in that case 2 on the side and 1 front and back

though if you are good with the dremel you could cut your own fan hole in the case side :)

i could get what ever case i wanted really but i just dont really want to spend much more on the pc. im not bothered about loads of flahing led's or cathode tubes i just want a cool pc that doesnt make much noise, as i run it at night and it annoys me when im trying to sleep lol

Wheres your noise coming from in particular?

That cpu fan I don't think is the quietest at full rpm. Decent 120mm fans will be quieter shifting the same amount of air as 80mm fans if they're where the noise is coming from.

the noise isnt the case fans as they didnt make a difference when i added them. its just when i built the pc its alot more noisy than before i upgraded and im using the same psu so that only leaves the cpu cooler
