Console sales

That surprises me, seeing as the largest and most profitable market for games is the adult market, but the best selling units were those targeted at children.

Which is what ive been saying to all the PS3 and 360 fanboys. The Wii pwns, period. Its cheap and fun with no extra BS.

Wow, that is a suprise.. :)

Only problem with the Wii is that it is a console for more than one person.. so it gets boring if you are alone.

Whereas PS3(if it had some good games, which it will soon) and the 360 are fun when alone. :p

Oh, and remember how much cheaper the Wii is compared to the 360 and PS3, people will buy it just because they want a cheap next gen console.

Anywhoo, The Wii is in my eyes a very respectable console. :D

Eh, im a huge Zelda fan so i havent had this problem but i see what your saying.

So the list of sellers, that they omitted a graph kinda thing for, whilst rolling in glory/headlining 360 sales smacking ps3 :

1. Nintendo DS - 561,000

2. Nintendo Wii - 381,000

3. Sony PSP - 290,000

4. Sony PS2 - 270,000

5. XBox 360 - 198,000

6. GBA - 113,000

7. Sony PS3 - 98,000

(and u need to decipher the article to come to this)

First of all, that is one hell of an amount of consoles/handhelds.

It`s a pretty darn good job by Nintendo there tbh and I am very supprized to see the large sales of the PS2. I personally thought 360 sales would have been higher than that, judging by the number of times I turn around and see adverts for this`n that as I travel about. This is in the US.

Strategy by Sony is simple, bring out something akin to FF, Tekken XXX, whatever, for PS3 only.

Nintendo have been the masters of console gaming, imo, going back to the old fashioned consoles. I feel they learn from their efforts year after year. Zelda aside, there isn`t that much attraction there for me in their ranges, but that`s personal.

Some pretty good PS3 deals around now though... Amazon giving ya 3 games, extra controller and hdmi cable for £425... Not bad considering thats what the console alone cost not so long ago.

.. some miscelleneous Nintendo stuff (N.America)

Ah, nice to see Nintendo redeeming themselves with this generation. They may still not have the hardcore gamer reputation, but they've certainly mastered getting their consoles into more and more people's hands.

I can see why the wii is god damn awesome but I would lose interest after a while

Either im lazy or im too concerned on graphics and the games other consoles offer

PS3 imo will take off soon, just let the games developers get used to the new power and boom - the prices are dropping as well

xbox360 is selling the most imo cause it was out ages ago - plus the developers are taking full advantage of the architecture

I'd have to choose a ps3 or 360 though - wii is kinda like time crisis 2 with light guns - fun for a while until you think, why am i doing this?

Yea, and how long are people actualy going to use that excuse? Imo its been out long enough to do "something" and it hasent.

This thread was saying that the Wii has been selling more consoles, and its been out shorter. I think its been proven which console is this best with this Gen even though i know SO many people would have disagreed when the 360 first came out. Kinda odd how the PS2 is ranking above the 360 still though :/

Yeh, i'm saying i like the idea of the Wii but its not for me, its not hardcore enough when it comes to the games I like - red steel looks the only game id be truly interested in as im not an adventure/platform kinda person, just like the GC it doesnt have enough good fps out there (it must be annoying aiming like a light gun all the time even when play call of duty for example) plus the 360 and ps3 graphics appeal to me more than the feature of being able to use the wiimote

I would use the wii at parties ill give them that but as a gamer i'd still have to go with the 360 or ps3. Has anyone seen the new gta on the ps3? Thats enough to buy me over

As with the ps2 outselling 360 - course it will, it was the greatest console out for about half a decade right? Not many bought a GC due to its lets face it - a kiddy appeal and it was...plus most of the games were platformers

xbox had halo and pgr which kept sales pretty respectable

ps2 was just like the only choice for all genres really even if the graphics werent as good as xbox (on average) but ps2 did have the big hitting games that every1 knew.

All about your game preference tbh

Im not all about mature titles, but rather fun games. A games graphics dont have to be good, nor does it have to have blood and guts to be fun. All i want is something that will keep me entertained for hours. I have a PS3 now, and i dont find it to be at all anything great. And the excuse give it time has been worn and worn.

I`ve always thought Nintendo have been the masters of console creation. What I think has taken some time is their realization of `western` vS `eastern` style games. One of their kicks in the butt was GoldenEye for the N64, I don`t think they appreciated how popular that game was going to be vS Mario. Release Mario SOMETHING in the `east` and u`ve sold half u`r stock in a couple of days.

Still don`t think they`re totally there yet.

Is there a Destruction Derby style game on the Wii ? That`s one heck of a party/family style game.

It`s a really big arguement. There are shelves of games for the likes of the PC that take months/year to develope and look nice - and the play sucks. Especially series games, taken over by market-force lead companies.

QFT, i was just barely born but does anybody know hwo well the NES and SNES sold compared to other things out?

Again, worldwide u`d probably see Nintendo spank the likes of Sega. In the western world they were probably closer.

On the other side of that coin, the western world were into their commodores and sinclairs, telling peoples about the awful things m$ have in store for the world.

Ahha yea, but i remember being a kid and when i had a SNES i was teh shiz man. I was like geez im poor, im sure you can afford one.
