Connecting to 57"....

Hey guys, well I want to connect my PC to my 57" Sony rear projection 1080i HDTV. Basically, I'm wondering if there's anything special I need to configure? I just want to connect it through DVI.

Thanks!

Edit: What resolution do I use? It's a 16:9 widescreen 57" 1080i HDTV

I`ve only installed a non-HD one here, so as far as that went it was a simple matter of plugging it in a vga input.

I would ~imagine~ if it`s a low to mid range HD it will be hdmi, mid to high probably DVI.

It`d be nice to just have a dvi.

To say definately yes/no tbh, we`d need more model info.

Some have loads of connections, some are limited. Some think a hdmi is enough etc.

Sorry but I don't get what you're talking about...my TV doesn't have HDMI It just has 2 DVI inputs on the back...

I have a feeling that myself atleast didn`t get the full jist of what u were asking.

I`m under the impression now that u know it has a DVI connection and u want to know if u need anything in addition in order to go pc->tv - in which case I`d almost definately say no - just plug it in and away u go.

If u go into the nVidia control thingy (as long as the tv is plugged in during u`r boot into windows) will show or detect all the possible outputs of the tv and u can pretty much see for u`rself what it`ll do. In the same fashion u`d add a regular tv to a multiview output.

I take it it`s like this one.

Yep that's just like mine, might even be mine lol.

I connected it and it mostly worked. I set it to 1080i succesfully, but I couldnt get my toolbar to show up on my TV, and reading anything on the screen was out of the question.

I got owned :(

Seeing as u`r an nVidian, there is a nifty bunch of positioning tools that may help u out in the menus.

Bestest way I`ve found is to select the TV in the display settings and go to device settings in the lower right.

Critcism I have is that it sizes the vertical the same time as the horizontal.

Worth playing with stuff tho.

I tried the resizing thing but after I set it and hit apply nothing happened?!

I`m not entirely sure what to advise u to try. I`ve always got atleast 1 pc at home linked to a tv, a tv of various kinds.

To this day it`s been something akin to childsplay to get them hooked up.

When u apply the settings and nothing happens - I`ve just simply never had that.

In terms of the TV, apart from adjustments, do u get `a` picture ok now ?

(u are of course using drivers I`ve not used at home yet)
