Confusion regarding voltages

Hi all. recently overclocked my 2500k to 4.5 ghz at 1.3v

it's been tested in prime and appears to be working fine however i'm very confused as to what cpu-z and hwmonitor are showing me.

I would really appreciate it if you guys could have a look and tell me if this is in order. Why does cpu-z say 1.16v and which voltage should i be looking at in hwmonitor vcore or cpu.

cheers

most likely cpu is throttling up and down its what they do unless you tell it in bios not to. There designed for power saving

if that is the reason then is it going to be stable like this? how would i disable it in a gigabyte bios if necessary. I do find it weird though coz in bios it always says my voltage is around 1.3-1.33v

Its Speedstep, it clocks the system to 1.6ghz when idle and bumps it back upto your OC when needed, Trouble is CPU-Z is saying 4.5ghz with only 1.12V, if it was at idle it would say 1600mhz not 4500mhz which is why im confused as to the 1.12V

exactly! but i've been playing bfbc2 for an hour or so since i discovered this whole 1.116v thing and surely it would've crashed if these were the genuine voltages. Should i put it down to a bug/error in cpu-z??

seems like a glitch/error of some sort, Im not a OC guru but 1.12Vcore at 4.5ghz wouldnt be stable it was legit id have thought lol.

yes speedstep and I agree its a glitch it should be saying 1600mhz at those volts it prolly just read it wrong. another thing to check is bios version if not on latest it can show quirky things as well.

Mines the same mate and I have a gigabyte motherboard. I think its down to Vdroop, these boards seem to be really bad at it. When I am idling my volts sits pretty much on what I set it on (1.33 volts) but when I stress my cpu it drops right down to 1.26 volts.

As regards to this, the only reason why one says 1.12 and the other 1.116 is because its rounding up. I use O3d hardware monitor just because its accurate and has a cool gadget.

if i flash my bios to F5 i believe it would be do i lose my overclock? also in your opinion are the chances that it would stay stable??

cheers

should stay stable and yes you'll have to redo the OC

with all that said. running prime95 for 4 hours with temps below 70 and no errors do i really wanna go through all that hassle so cpu-z reads it correctly. what you reckon??

I can relate to what ur saying what I do in that situation is look at what the bios fix is for it will normally say like help with stability or along those lines. Then decide if I need it
