Hi ,

i have an i5 2500k sandybridge. I believe it is stated to be a default clock of 3300mhz?? and turbo up to 3700?
However i haven't been in the BIOS overclocking or anything and CPU-Z says 4200mhz with a voltage of anywhere from 1.020 to 1.300v while idleing.
Is CPU-Z my problem or as i had my system built has it been done for me?
also when i rune OCCT 4.4 on 100% load i get temperature up to 90 where the test stops? i have the stock heatsink on which i am changing soon.
thanks.

It looks as if the person that build it or the board has overclocked it for you. 90 degrees is to high mind but that should be sorted once you replace the heatsink.

^^^ .. this and get a better cooler on the CPU, before it really eats toast.
a simple cooler master 212+/EVO will handle your 4.6GHz and stay 80ish.
your mileage may vary.
but you have been overclocked since the build.

oh and welcome to the OC3D forums

that vdroop. that voltage fluctuation in general, holy balls how is that thing not fried yet.
as said above, reset the bios if you like your chip and never let that guy who built your PC touch any of your stuff again.
