Current specs:
Intel 5820K
Asus Rampage V Extreme
GSkill 4X4GB DDR4 2400
(3) Gigabyte GTX 980 G1 Gaming 3-Way SLI
EVGA Supernova 1300G2
(2) OCZ Vector 150 120GB
WD Green 1TB (getting old so not so trustworthy)
NZXT Switch 810
Corsair H100i
Corsair M95
Logitech G15 (soon to be new Corsair RGB keyboard)
(3) QNIX 2710 monitors in 7680X1440 surround

I ordered a few new 2011-v3 components to replace my Maximus V Forumla / 3770K combo. The UPS man dropped the stuff off and I got to work swapping it out right away at the shop.

I got a 5820K, Gigabyte X99 Gaming G1 Wifi, and 4X4GB Gskill 2400 DDR memory. I may end up with a 5930K in the future if I go with more graphics cards by then, but who knows if that will happen.

I had pair of OCZ Vectors, and one died a few weeks ago on me, and I go a replacement Vertex 460. After setting up th system today and going to put the two SSD's back in a RAID again, the remaining Vector crapped out on me! I can't believe they both failed within a few weeks of each other. So here come another Vertex 460 shortly. I knew I should have stayed away from OCZ, but it was on sale when I ordered. Should have went with the Samsung 840 Pros at the time.

So far I am happy with the Gigabyte board on the first day, loads of goodies for the price. The UEFI is somewhat slow to open, but once loaded it is nice and quick.

You may notice there is not much for storage. I keep nothing on the computer permanently. Everything goes on my FreeNAS storage pool. Even games are ran over the network and load pretty quick, faster then on the old WD Green drive.

Total sexiness!

Gold audio connectors seem to be a common thing among almost all of the boards now:

The only flaw I could find. Discolored spot on the shield over the audio, it is impressive though, quite a bit better then on my Maximus V Formula:

Awesome dude! Are the 780 DCUII's quiet because I remember somebody saying that they weren't actually that good a cooler for the bigger, beefier cards?

I have no complaints with them. I don't hear any noise from them. The noisiest is the corsair h100i with its stock fans if it gets ramped up.

Hey, you got the same board I almost went with. :) I didn't want the wifi on mine though so I ended up going with the orange one (overclocking model) The red was 4 dollars less but I really didn't want wifi so I splurged and spent the extra 4 bucks :)
I covered the orange with black since I an not a Broncos Fan.

I don't care for the wifi, but the bluetooth gets used once in a while with my phone. Black and red was another plus. So far it is running perfect.

Nice one dude.

You should just get rid of the OCZ drives and bite the bullet on some better ones. Even though you don't use them for storing your important data it would be inconvenient for you to have to RMA/Dispose them when they eventually pack it in.

Ooo! I'm jealous, nice setup dude! ;)

What's the onboard mini PCIe Wifi card that Gigabyte use on that board? They mostly seem to use the Intel AC7260, at least that's what's on my Gigabyte FM2+ board, but the one on that board doesn't look like it.

My one could be quieter at idle, it's definitely the loudest thing in my system at idle. I do run my case fans at 5v though. Don't get me wrong, it's not bothersome; with other noises like traffic outside you're not going to notice it, but when there's no other noise I'll notice it. As for under load, I game with headphones on, so it'll take a damn noisy graphics card under load for me to notice.

My MSI GTX 560 I have in my secondary rig is inaudible in comparison, and that's with the case fans at 5v too. This is all subjective though. ^_^

I have been checking out PCIe M.2 drives for my next one. Which leads to a new point on the gigabyte board. It's M.2 port is only 10 gb vs the 32 gb seen on most. But realisticly that is still very fast I suppose.

I think that is the one. I remember a 7 in the model number browsing through device manager. I will have to check.

--I just looked and it is the AC7260, a customer brought in a 2 in 1 laptop today too and I checked, it also is AC7260. So i guess it is pretty common.

Just placed an order for three Gigabyte GTX 980 G1 Gaming cards! I'm going to try my power supply to see if it works but I have my doubts. I know the Gigabyte version likes more power then the reference, but they are still very efficient. My two 780's seem to draw about 270 watts a piece according to my math, and the highest power consumtion I have seen is 720 watts coming from the wall, which I calculate around 660 watts actually being used.

Well I had it with this Gigabyte board not behaving with two 780's installed. As of this morning I can only enter the UEFI after one card is removed. It just hangs on a black screen. And Im getting sick of the alternating between which one gets initialized first, even though it's specified in the UEFI. 50/50 chance it will fire up the correct one, or it will initialize the one without monitors even hooked up to it. And every time it alternates, and I get into Windows, NVIDIA control panel is like, "o it looks like your display settings have changed." And I have to redo the SLI/Surround config. I swapped the cards around, makes no difference. Latest BIOS update from 9/18. They pumped out 6 updates and then now seem to have stopped.

Newegg.com said replacement only return, but i complained and said hey Ive been a customer since 2004 and who knows how many 1000's I have spent and never once had a single return or RMA. So the supervisor made an exception and is giving me store credit. Better then nothing.

So now it's back to my first choice of the Rampage V Extreme. My Maximus V Formula never gave me a single problem so Im hoping this is the same. I'm kind of out two motherboard purchases at the moment haha.

Plus I have 3 980s on the way here, I cant imagine what it would do with 3 cards when it gets confused from just 2. I also have an EVGA SuperNOVA 1300 G2 on the way as I think my 850 would have been pushing it.

Well it's all set with the Rampage V Extreme now! No more getting confused over which card it wants to initialize first. I think it looks awesome with all the black and red, as well as the red PCIe power cables on the new Supernova 1300G2.

Also have both SSD's up and running in a striped RAID again, hopefully this time they last longer. I may go with one of those nice M.2 drives in here though.

I do have a complaint with the Gigabyte GTX 980 G1 Gaming cards as they are too damn big, not in length but in height. Using the 3-way bridge they are slammed so tight up against each other, some of the fans can not even move! So now it's rigged up with three 2-way SLI flex cables so I can squeeze some space in between. I started to Fold and I heard a fan jump up to 100% had to investigate. Here a card was throttling way down and was at 92C. Turns out fans were not moving. So now I'm not sure what to do, as the only way their would be enough space would be to start removing back plates, which simply should not have to be done in the first place. But with some space in between now they are running at 1525 on the cores and putting out over 1 million PPD folding!

I was very surprised how heavy the Rampage V Extreme was over the Gigabyte X99 Gaming WiFi board. It packs a lot of weight with those solid heatsinks front and back. I have also reached the same overclock using almost 2 tenths of a volt less!

The Gigabytes does win in the sound department however. This realtec audio just can't compete with the creative audio. My cheapo speakers have to be cranked up very high now to get some volume, even more then the older Maximus V Formula.
