Was waiting for class to start and thought I would see what kind of performance I got, at first the download speed shot through the roof, then it throttled back, but check the upload:worship:

Schools ussually have good internet, well at my school they do anyway as they are linked to all the other schools in the area but the latency is crap due to so many proxys along the way.

Mine is good, except the class rooms each lack bandwidth, so when everyone in a room is using the internet it starts to really drag.

My uni put in a massive pipe the term before I moved out of halls. 2mb upload and 10mb download I got off of limewire - this was 7years or so ago

Yeah but how is the Upload 10 times faster than the download??? Why would a school need to upload so much?

I think they are limiting the download, so that people don't download MP3s and such. The upload they seem to leave unrestriced though.

Oh, so the admins can use the full bandwidth?

Cuz if they have a 20MB line and restrict it, would be rather silly don't ya rekon?

It seemed to take a second to limit, and probably the teachers computers aren't limited. Also I am sure there are about 1000 computers on campus so they must have something huge.
