clicky noise???

Hi guys,

this is a tough one to diagnose for me.

I have sort of static/clicky noise coming from the rig. It is noticeable when playing games and at times when browsing the web etc.

Now i cannot tell if its the GPU's (780 SC in SLI) or the psu (AX1200i). I find it hard to locate with my ears.

It bugs me as i think something may fail in a second.

Just wondering if anybody experienced anything similar

Do you have a onboard GPU so that you can take out your dedicated card just to rule that out?

Edit: Just a thought, make sure all your cables are plugged in fully, with you saying static I'm just wondering if its the electrical buzzy sound when a cable isn't sat right.

Thanks for the replies so far guys.

I have 2 SSD's and no mechanical hard drives.

I replaced both 8pins and 6pin braided cables for the GPU's but that did not work.

No on-board graphics.

Its definitely clicky and not buzzing, kind of like the electrical sound you get when you plug a power cable into a laptop power brick slightly but not fully

Never done that myself, but with you describing it like that it could be that there is a power delivery issue somewhere, I'd check all the cables and not just the GPU ones.

That's arcing :o not a good thing. Can't you pin down the noise by using a kitchen roll tube, listening for the clicks.

i think i need a holiday, not thinking properly lately :(

Can heat build up inside rig cause the acrylic window to make noise? reason being i ran a gaming session yesterday with the door completely off and there no crackling sound. Prior to doing this, i had the case door on when gaming. Just curious about this

It may, my pc is dead silent but when my video card start pumping out quite a bit of hot air i can hear a click coming from the case, im willing to bet its the side panel on my h440.
