Chrome - He's dead, Jim

Sometimes when Chrome can't load a page you get the "He's dead, Jim" screen, which is probably a reference that I'm not getting but either way, lately this has been happening to me a LOT on any random sites, even the 'New tab' page.

Any idea what causes this?

Also, now I'm asking anyway, Whatsapp Web seems to demand me to update my browser to be able to work (even though it has worked before) but Chrome says I'm on the latest version?

its a star trek reference dude

HEATHEN!

odd, mine's on same revision number and no issues here, might be worth binning and reinstalling the extension

Oi, no lynching parties today!

I don't use an extension, I just go web.whatsapp.com. Didn't even know there was an extension for it? Might have to look that up!

Edit; Seems like there are only 3rd party extensions/apps

I'm guessing you've tried to disable all of your extensions? Shift + Esc will give you a list of Chrome's internal processes.

hmm, I use https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/watoolkit/fedimamkpgiemhacbdhkkaihgofncola

That seems to do the trick, pops it in one of the toolbar icons so it's easy to get it, and integrates with the pop ups and whatnot

Don't I still need the actual web app for that to work though?

Yeah mate, I have. No other processes either except for a Shockwave Flash plug-in, but that has a different error screen to mine.

Just opened Google chrome (homepage set to New Tab) and...

But I clicked the bottom button to let Google know of the problem and they asked me to include my email so I hope to hear from them soon.

Happens to me when I open a new tab most of the time at work when I'm using the stable version. It happens to me infrequently on my main PC (running 45.0.2454.15 beta-m (64-bit) ).

This started happening to me a few weeks back, and it drove me nuts! Thankfully it went away with upgrading to Win 10 and fresh Chrome install. Went for the 64 bit version this time. Never figured out what was causing it or how to fix it, nobody really seems to know.

I JUST TRIED TO LOOK AT THIS THREAD AND IT DID IT AGAIN

I'm on version 44 as mentioned earlier and I've not downloaded the 64bit thing when it came out so I think it's still on 32 bit.

Hmmm maybe a reinstall will fix it then...

This happened to me too for the last week or so, since then I upgraded to Win10 and updated the gpu driver, otherwise nothing else has been touched and it doesn't seem to do it anymore since yesterday.
