It once said it was Nforce 650, but now C55. What is the chipset of this motherboard?

IIRC it's 680i.. or a mix of the high end SB and mid end chipset (650i).

650i chip is good, 590 does SLI dual x16 lanes. I think. Was a while since i looked this up.

I can recomend the 650. Problem free, good OCer. 680i is pretty problem ridden.

I've used its cheaper brethren, ASUS P5N-E SLI (650i) and it was quite stable with BIOS 0401.

I've just bought the 680 version. Just need memory and graphics to get it running.

Didn't find Asus website much use though. Seems to take ages to load, if at all.

Can someone tell me what the numbers mean anyway (570, 650 etc) with reference to graphics card compatability.

if you have the true 680i (or indeed the 650i+570 hybrid) you can run dual x16 in SLI.

You should be able to run any single PCI-E gfx card or 2 equal nVidias in SLI.
