hi all,

i just got a new water cooling loop and forgot about the biocide..

was wondering if you can use bleach, or vinegar, or rubbing alcohol as cheap alternatives...

thanks..

Haven't heard of people using those alternatives and wouldn't suggest you use them, you could use a kill coil (.999 fine silver) instead of concentrated biocide.

Bleach - will destroy rubber over time

Vinegar - is a acid again same as above,

alcohol , eats at plastic seals and destroys rubber as well

if you would like a very cheap alternative go to chemist and get some Iodine you will only need 1 drop.

I thought iodine is an anti-bacterial, will it take care of any algae growth?

nope but hes being a cheap ass lol and its a good alternative if he doesn't promote alga growth. He would need to keep the pc out of natural light and in a dark place but meh he asked lol.
