CHEAP extreme gaming Build

Hey guys just joined, on Christmas i was thinking bout buying and / or building my first PC,

i gathered up heaps of information learn t more about everything i need to know (I'm a gamer)

and i was wondering do you guys (the forum) think that this is a good deal:

I've always liked ASUS boards and they've done well for the two AMD systems I've built in the past. I'm not familiar with the board you mention, however it does look to be one of their more budget models though.

As far as the rest of your build goes, have you thought about an SSD boot drive or Blu Ray drive to future proof it a little bit?

System building is fun - why pay someone else $150 to put one together? Spend the cash on upgrading some of your bits

then research it thoroughly and you should be fine. You will need to factor in the cost of an OS and a decent case (if the $150 includes that then it's probably a better deal but you could be stuck with a boring generic case).

Something tells me that the board will bottleneck the decent CPU and GPU so you won't be getting the maximum out of them, but that's purely based on where the board sits in ASUSs range compared to where these two components do.

Have you watched Tom's reviews on Youtube? Plenty of hardware to check out there.

Don't forget that Sandy Bridge is just around the corner and its release will most likely lower the price on current Core i7 models and bring them (hopefully) more in line with your Phenom II. Just a thought...

i think you should rethink your build and go with an i7 instead of the amd cpu, some mushkin ram, get a Noctua cpu cooler, the graphics cards fine grab a Spinpoint F3 1tb HDD mbe 2 and swap out the mobo for sabertooth x58

Yepp you may want to check out the Socket 1366 i7's (especially the 950) and a matching board (ASUs Sabertooth or Gigabyte UD3R V2). They provide better performance than a matching AMD setup.

Edit: Also if you want to save some money check out Tom's 600£ gaming rig/ build guide and chuck in a better graphics card if you are gaming a lot. A dual-core will do the job fine for most newer game titles.
