Cheap but powerful i3 build.

Hey guys,

New to the forums but i've been watching Overclock3D tv for a while now. I was watching his budget gaming PC build video last night and decided it's time I need a new computer.

So it was around 3am, so excuse if they don't fit(faily certian they do) or the build is simply shit.

But here's what I came up with:

Case : Coolermaster Storm Scout Gaming Chassis £60

CPU : Intel Core i3-2120 3.30GHz £105

Mobo : ASUS P8P67-M PRO Intel P67 (REV B3) Socket 1155 DDR3 PCI-Express Motherboard £105

GPU : XFX ATI Radeon HD 6870 Black Edition 1024MB £133

RAM : 4GB Mushkin Blackline £30

PSU : 700W OCZ ModXStream Pro Modular Silent SLI/Crossfire Ready ATX2.2 Power Supply £64

CPU Cooler: Arctic Cooling Freezer 13 CPU Cooler £20

HD : 500GB Western Digital Caviar Blue SATA III Hard Drive £30

Which has a pocket hurting total of: £557 inc VAT.

Thoughts? Opinions?

Thanks.

looks ok but if me i would go for

Case : Bitfenix shinobi £55.99 I think it looks pretty good and its cheap!

CPU : Intel Core i3-2120 3.30GHz £104.39

Mobo : ASUS Sabertooth Intel P67 (REV B3) Socket 1155 DDR3 PCI-Express Motherboard £147.54

GPU : MSI GTX 460 £109.99

RAM : 8GB Mushkin Radioactive £48.17

PSU : 650w Corsair TX650 £68.39

HD : 500GB Western Digital Caviar Blue SATA III Hard Drive £29.21

total £563.68

thats without another h/s though but you do get the intel standard one lol

Big question I've got, wouldn't there be a cheaper motherboard that you could buy, given that the 2120 is locked. You could probably get a lower spec mobo and save £50 or so.

The reason for the 700W PSU in there is 1. 650W->700W wasnt that much more and opens more potiental for later on, but yes, 650W is still too high but I really dont want to risk getting it blown up, I've had it done before so yeh.

The motherboard I picked was really a personal prefernce.

As for the expensive graphics card, I've also burned those babies out alot, um.. 5 GPU's? So this time, I'm getting a decent graphics card while the case will be supporting as many fans as it can

Just woke up and i've got an idea or two about the mobo/HD and the RAM.

check thisfor how much power you really need, you will find it quite suprising how little is needed

i could... run my 600w PSU and my 2500k with a 590 if i really wanted(but im not gonna

) but it would easily accomodate a 580 just for a reference.
