That was a seriously badass trailer. Even if the mission was pretty similar to one that occurred in Witcher 3. Pretty excited to play this in 8 years![]()
Yeah, I find the idea of playing as Ciri kind of boring, to be honest. I wanted a prequel set before Geralt was even born. There's nothing to do with these characters anymore. Their story is over. The Witcher 3 was basically Ciri's story and it's done. And now we're supposed to have an entire trilogy with her? Why?
I know they can do it. But that doesn't mean that it should be done. Even if they manage to write a really good story, and they probably will, telling that story is wrong in itself. Good writing isn't just about writing a good story, it's also about knowing what not to write.I think there are plenty of things that can be done with a sequel.
I agree with you for the most part. People need to know when a story should end.I know they can do it. But that doesn't mean that it should be done. Even if they manage to write a really good story, and they probably will, telling that story is wrong in itself. Good writing isn't just about writing a good story, it's also about knowing what not to write.
This feels like what Hollywood does with constant sequels. Like what Disney/Marvel did after The Avengers: End Game. They can't let go of characters like Thor and Captain America, even though their character arcs are over, so they keep finding excuses to pump out new sequels and bring back old characters whose stories are over. It's the same with The Witcher 4. The Witcher 3 was Ciri's story as much as Geralt's, and her story was told. It's over. She became a witcher or she became an Empress. We don't need to know what happened next. Let it go.
They are already doing it by continuing the story with Ciri. And like I said, I'm sure that they will write a fantastic story. And I'll probably buy it on day one. It's just that it will be a story that doesn't need to be told, or shouldn't be told.I doubt they would do a Marvel with this.
