CD Projekt Red Responds to Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer/"games as a service" concerns

Love it ^_^

I wonder if EA ever stop and think to themselves - "Are we the bad guys ?"

I love it more by the fact that it was Disney who stepped in to stop EA transactions. Ok, it was still a greed move from Disney considering their new movie is soon, but I find it enjoyable seeing EA have to do what their told for once.

Good to hear, but i've grown to expect nothing less from CD Projekt Red. They've got to be the best Dev's in the gaming world atm.

Awesome. I like the sound of this game too. Single player open world is the only style of game I'm interested in ATM.

EA are a corporation. Corporations have no feeling, no morals, and no understanding of right from wrong. They are entirely mechanical, and just roll on regardless.

Bethesda used to be my favourite dev house. Then they were bought up by Zenimax, and since then they have pulled some truly appalling stuff. TESV was so broken for a friend of mine out in the USA that he sued them (100% straight up). He had contacted technical support a number of times but they just gave him generic replies.

You can't complain to a corporation as there is no one to complain to.

So EA won't change a thing.

Disney is at fault just like EA. Bothers me people don't see it.

Perhaps I wasnt clear enough. I didn't praise Disney. I still called it a greed move, however this time the greed move was from Disney themselves. Trying to protect damage to their upcoming film.

Disney are so bad now, that if it wasnt for Robert Downey Jnr refusing to replay Iron Man unless his co-actors were paid the same as him, there would be no Avengers and spin offs. They were only given a contract which was 10% of R D Jnrs max earning.

Anyone have that sinking feeling that CDPR are actually cooperate shams just like EA and sell good vibes because good vibes sell well? No? I'm talking out of my ass. I can't wait for Cyberpunk 2077.

Sadly very true.

I have a gut feeling you're right, I hope we're both wrong but the way the gaming industry is going there won't be any devs left that are decent in the moral sense, So many have genuinely turned bad.

They will do MT or whatever else is new but they won't scam you or make it p2w. That's fine by me.

MT's for aesthetics items I have no problem with at all, It's why I have spent over $100 in the last month alone on the Frontier store for Elite Dangerous, All aesthetic ship kits/Paintjobs etc...

IMO as soon as a developer starts releasing MT's that offer stat boosts etc... is the moment everyone should abandon them faster than a ginger step child.

Well I could see systems where effecting stats would be okay because you could have it boost something but at the same time it reduces something else. But it won't be anymore boosting and any less reducing than gear in the game. Just let's you choose how to play. But anything beyond that would be P2W. The system I mentioned would also be riding such a thin line so if they are gonna do it then they better do it right

That could work but I think MT's should remain aesthetic as when you start messing with real world money and stats it gets messy.

Or they could just rely on making good games and selling them for €60 and instead of making a gross amount of money and becoming stinking rich, they could earn a huge amount of money and be reasonably rich.

jk

They can still make good games with DLC and MT though couldn't they? Most companies just rely on DLC and MT to much.

I think MT shouldn't exist really. The mobile gaming generation (free to play/not free to have fun) is not something I look to fondly. But DLC should cost money to purchase. Time and effort went into it; the developers deserve to be compensated. But skins? They're not terrible or a blight to the industry, and of course they can be fun if you're really into a game, but in a game that was €60, charging you to make your character look like DCEU Batman versus the original, I just think it's a bit... shallow, maybe? I don't know how to describe it. It just seems pointless. Just play the game and stop wasting money on frivolous, unessential things. I know I'm being a spoil sport. I enjoy skins too, but I feel like it's too easy to become trapped by these things that I'd rather they didn't exist or were heavily limited.
