I have $250 dollars to spend on a PCI-X video card. Which is the fastest stock card for that money? Which card can i mod <= $250?

I found an XFX 6800XT (PV-T42E-UDE3) for $139.

How does this card stack up to other cards?

Hmm, as far as I know, the PCI-E cards don't unlock, so I wouldn't go for that. You can get yourself a 6800GS for around $154 at Newegg right now: 6800 GS at Newegg. These things rival the performance of a 6800 GT for about $100 less and, according to XMS, OC like crazy. Pretty sure he has his at 560 from a stock clock of 450 or so.

Definately look at the 6800GS, pretty monsterous cards.

You're better off with an X800GTO2 and then unlocking it to X850XT spees however. More bang for your buck!

X800Gto2 is a very good card and easy to unlock and overclock. My First test on 3dMark05 was around 6800, only problem is new batches dont unlock or overclock as much as the first batches. You ll have to look around for this info on new GTo2 cards. However 1 uk online store says current cards are unlocked by default to 16 pipelines on Sapphire GTO2.
