Carbide 540 AIR Radiator mounting - Exhaust Push/Pull?

Hi Guys,

Right now I'm having a problem establishing the best way to mount the pull fan and rad to exhaust in the Carbide 540 AIR case. I have the Push fan mounted on front of the rad and the rad to the case exhaust fan location.

But, I have a second fan that's to be used for pull in this config.... but how do I mount that fan and/or rad at the same time to the case exhaust plate?

The GPU provides it's own modulation to the RAD fan, so how best once mounted do I configure the push/pull set up? I'm using the onboard fan control "fanXpert" Asus Crosshair V.

I'm starting to get an itchy scalp from all the head scratching, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

I'm terribly sorry, but would you mind re-formulating what you wrote? I'm having a hard time comprehending it.

If you're worrying how to control 2 fans with only one controlled fan-pin, you can use a fan-cable splitter which will do just that for you.

If you're wondering how to fix the radiator to the case with the fan in between: Long screws. (Something like these: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/corsair-hydro-series-fan-mounting-screw-kit-cw-8960008 )

Also what kind of radiator is it, 120mm, 140mm, 240mm, 360mm? Where in the case do you want it? Top, Front, Back?

These kinds of infos would make it a lot easier to help you :)

Thanks for the reply.

Basically, what I'm trying to establish is how best to mount the pull fan, should I use the long screws and screw through the rear grille, chassis exhaust port and then sandwich the fan between the radiator and case exhaust port?

Is there an alternative way to mount this set up, like the pull fan on the outside of the exhaust port etc?

I understand about the splitter for the fans, but will the R9 295X2 provide enough current to drive twin external fans? I assumed I would need to use the GPU to control the push fan and the mobo fan controller for the pull fan or am I confused?!

The radiator is a 120mm and it runs hot as per TTL's review, reason for adding the push pull set up, I've just never done such a set up before and don't want to get it wrong.

If you look at the Corsair Carbide 540 AIR case here:

Look at the exhaust fan on the rear panel, I have the radiator mounted there. But with a single fan... but want to add a push/pull set up to it.

The Air 540 i am currently building one which is a long term project , i have a 360mm in the front (intake) and 240mm in the floor (intake ) 240 mm and the roof ( exhaust ), all rad are 45 mm thick. only 1 set of fans per rad on my case

Well there's nothing saying that you can't mount a fan on the outside of the case, but it would look unsightly, don't you think? Is there not enough space inside the case to sandwhich in another fan? I could easily fit a push/pull in my Air 540, but I do use an H100i for my CPU so there's no huge heatsink blocking everything.

And about the 295X... well it does run pretty hot doesn't it... I'd say that it should be able to provide enough current to drive 2 fans... In normal gaming or benchmark conditions, does your one fan ever hit 100% fanspeed?

Well I can't say any more because I'd be heavily speculating and I don't wanna speculate possibly at the cost of your hardware.
