Hi guys

Hope someone can help me.

I had a message on my laptop stating that a file had been corrupted. I tried to restore using my recovery disc. I now get the screen that says open in safe mode, normal mode etc. If i choose any of these options the computer will reboot back to this same screen.

Thanks

I would assume that the file is still corrupt. Maybe a re-install of the O/S from fresh would be a plan?

Do you have files that you need to keep on the hard drive?

PS: Welcome to the EP-UK forums :)

Sorry, O/S = Operating System, like Windows Vista, or XP ;)

A clean install might be the way forward. I'm assuming you have another computer connected to the internet (as you're posting here!) so that you can look up your laptop and download all the latest Drivers for it (usually from the laptop manufacturers website > support/ drivers section).

Once you safely have all these you can grab your XP/ Vista install disc and stick it in the drive. BOOT into the BIOS and set '1st BOOT Device' to CD/ DVD Drive, then the '2nd BOOT Device' to Hard Drive.

Now when you reset it should prompt you to 'Hit any key to BOOT from disc.......' (or similar!)

Then do that, and you can do a clean install of your O/S (your computer will run like new!!) There are plenty of guides on Google, or if you need any help just post here :)
