Cant decide!

right now i am deciding between getting a new MOBO or a new processor. if i get a new MOBO it will either be the new asus crosshair formula IV or the new msi 890FXA-GD70 to replace my asus crosshair formula iii. if i get a new processor it will be the amd 1090t or 1055t. is it worth getting a new processor on my 790fx board? or will it be a better buy if i get a new MOBO? now let me also say my current processor "amd 965" will not go passed 4.0ghz at 1.5v. now getting a new MOBO might change that but i cant be 100% sure. but i do know a new processor will be faster and i can OC a 1090t or 1055t to 4.2+ghz easy on my formula iii. so i am stuck and the 890fx will be a nice increase in speed over my 790fx.

If you are using DDR3 don't bother to get a new board. There is hardly any difference in the 790 or the 890 chipsets. I mean, afterall what else could have been added apart from SATA 3 and USB 3 right? meaning in order to get full use out of a very late board you would need to replace all of your hard drives and USB devices.

Thus I would go with a 1090 if you can afford it.

Alien's bang on here. A hex core will probably see the biggest difference, and the 1090 is probably the easiest to clock. A new mobo isn't really worth it, considering the minor 790-890 changes. If you really want to change mobo and cpu, look at going intel (P55 and an i5 7xx will probably run rings around a hex core in many applications.
