Can not find clocking options in MSI PM8M-V mobo's BIOS?

Ok maybe I'm missing something here but after searching around I have seen people that have been overclocking with this board. I can't seem to find where I would overclock with this board in the BIOS.

I mean, shouldn't it allow me to increase the FSB speeds and such? If so, I can't friggin' find it!

Any info would help on this chipset, I wanna do some clockin'!

After looking in the manual it shows that there's supposed to be a main section for frequency and voltage controls... Even has a screenshot.

Well unluckily for me, mine doesn't have that! What else is fun and exciting, there's no updated BIOS's for this board, so WTF gives? MSI sucks = yes.

Someone make me a new suggestion for a s478 mATX mobo, this one is utter crap.

Don't go mATX, go Asus P4C800-E Deluxe.

Sure it's ATX, but it's one of (if not) the best OC motherboard out there.

Urm, anything with the 865/875 chipset should do you.

Usual drill you know, read the reviews form decent sources, check forum archives etc.

Do you have an 'Advanced chipset' section in your BIOS? That is where you should find the options for FSB and voltage adjustment Fraggles

Dude i swear on these boards there's a key combination you need to use to get into the 'secret' area of the BIOS. Its like a 2 key combo....cant remember what tho :S

"In the bios, press Shift + F2, then Alt + F3. This unlocks hidden bios settings. Make sure the NV/ATI Speedup option is disabled."

Might be worth a shot fella.

I had an MSI 875P motherboard for my 478 Northy and never had to use any key combination to get into the advanced BIOS options. But it's worth a shot :)

Thx mate I'm gonna try it right now!

Edit: Nothin' :(

Have a check if there`s another BIOS u can flash that`s more like what u`r used to.

Stripped down BIOS installs get into alot of business/oem-shop pcs to prevent the average user from goofing around too much. Mainly they show system-info where u would expect all u`r clocking stuffs.

EDIT: Seems I can`t link directly, but stick u`r mobo details in here and it comes out with 2 u might try:

http://www.msicomputer.com/support/bios_result.asp

Then there`s this global site, seems to want to live_update everything tho:

http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=bios&maincat_no=1&prod_no=205 (there is a manual to version 1.0 bios that mentions ram voltages etc, but nothing about it being hidden)

i'm running a P4VM800 and its been pretty good so far. Only done a brief overclock from a northwood 2.8 to 3.

Both of those BIOS's are older than the one the board shipped with unfortunately.

I am just going to give up. 2.4ghz will have to suffice!

Is it a big difference in revision or ability ? I`m thinking along the lines of backing up the one u have and trying the newest "official" one from the manuf site.

It could be that the newer revision is oem specific or something. Hence lock-down on some adjustable stuff.
