The COD guys have responded saying that not everything shown in the official Elite Service video will

be fee based, some will be free, some will be fee based but did not say which is which.

Lets hope BF3 blows COD out of the water

Lol, this guy

I remember watching one of his video rants about MoH 2010 and all the hackers and snipers.

I agree with him though they shouldn't be charging for the service. I personally don't play the MP so i'm not really that bothered either way but it does suck.

From what I can gather, Everyone will have an "Elite Account"

it will be you own option if you want the subscription, so youll get all the DLC and add ons etc as part of your in your subscription, if you dont want to pay month (or whatever) then you will be able to get all the same stuff by buying seperately

I can only really see this Elite subscription benefiting those CoD fanboys that will hoover up anything CoD releases without question.

just doing a bit of maths, Say CoD do 3 DLCs a year, and for arguements sake, say they are £10 each = £30, divided that by 12 (if its a monthly subscription) that about £2.50 a month. which i think might tempt more people, as gamers might think "well its only £2.50 a month thats not bad" rather "anther 6 maps (2 of them from MW2) for 10quid?! Sod that!!!"

I like the part where he doesn't know what the **** he is talking about. CoD isn't the biggest grossing series, that's the biggest joke I've heard in a long time. Also, I like how you're acting like you HAVE to pay. You don't. They clearly stated that it's for additional content. Take WoW for instance. You get the full game, but you are given the OPTION to purchase tournament realm passes, or mounts etc. They aren't needed, just additional content.

Another good example would be League of Legends or Heroes of Newerth. Both games are bare minimum, and there is additional content that you can pay for, but it won't give you the upper hand or change any gameplay for that matter. Stop whinging and just wait, stop assuming everyone is a money leech.

Activision is a money leech.. Like dlc map packs.. They cost around £10 each then you look at bfbc2 all the maps were free.. Activision could afford dedicated servers so everyone gets a better connection but they decide not to.. All of this disappoints me about them.. COD can be game if you have a good connection but as soon as you get connected to a dodgy person it all goes south.

What are you talking about? BFBC2 had Vietnam, that was DLC that costed money. There are plenty of companies that ask for money for DLC, nearly every game on Xbox has paid for DLC. There has been only one CoD game that didn't have dedicated servers, and that was MW2. All I see is a bunch of people whinging about paying a monthly fee for extra content, which you don't even know the cost of, or what the content is.

Agreed, we know too little about it at the moment to complain about it. BC2 did get some free maps though, and you got more value for money with the Vietnam DLC, I believe it was £10-15 on release with 4 maps, 5 if you count the community unlocked one and none of them were copies. Only other BC2 DLC you had to pay for was £2 for some guns, extra slots and a new look for those slots.

I was talking about the MAP PACK DLC all of the BFBC2 MAP PACK were free not £10 like the COD 1s, and the COD games never use dedicated servers for xbox. And as grizzly said Vietnam was worth the £10-£15 you paid because it basically changed a lot of the game.

I'm not whining about paying a monthly fee for extra content I'm just saying that activision should think more about its customers instead of they're wallets.

I havent got a problem with games charging for DLC, no one has a gun to your head to buy them. i think the main gripe is that I feel my pants get pulled down a lil further with their DLC/titles than others.

The seem to slip this extra £5 for a copy of their games (well, they did that with the 360 version) and the DLC always seems to include map(s) from previous CoDs, if i wanted to play those maps,

I would put in that CoD in and play them!!

:::steps off soapbox:::

Uh, barely any game for Xbox or PS3 has dedicated servers, so I don't understand that gripe. Customers is the keyword, customer also doesn't mean someone you give things to for free. I don't see anyone complaining about Halos DLC. That's also YOUR opinion whether it was worth it. Nearly every game has transactions these days, whether it's monthly or not. Don't complain about it until you actually know what you're paying for.

Well, to be frank: I don't give a damn about COD anymore. It used to be a great series, but it's gone downhill rapidly the past couple of years.

I will not buy MW3 (another game on the same engine CoD4 was built on? Money leeches..), and I will most certainly NOT be paying for something this silly. CoD Elite? Really?

What I will be buying is Battlefield 3, which promises to be an epic game.

Well the games like BF and Homefront DO have dedicated servers and it just makes the whole games much smoother for everyone. You become a customer from buying the game I just don't see why you should have to pay an extra ~£10 for DLC when all it is is a few extra maps(some from past games) so if you do buy the game+DLC then your paying ~£60 just for 1 game.

I'm not complaining about it I just don't see why they are going to have certain bits that are pay monthly, I mean at the end of the day it's just going to be some sort of stat website that tell's you about tournaments and stuff. I mean that haven't released the full details of what you get for paying yet but it just seems like a dumb idea.

I just can't wait for BF3 it looks awesome and I hope it wipes out CoD so Activision realise they can't just keep using the same game and just changing the textures/models =/.
