Building new pc this week / Advice needed

Hi everyone, Im currently looking to build a new pc. I have a decent budget in mind (around £3000 / $4800) and would like some input/feedback. I will also be looking to get some input during the build (a bit nervous about spending so much)

So the parts im thinking of are below (UK prices) scan.co.uk

Now on the case front im in 2 minds, so ive put my choices below

http://www.caselabs-store.com/magnum-sma8/ either a custom config from this company or the Corsair 900D.

Also i would be looking to add a custom water loop with CPU and GPU blocks too, but im still looking at all my options for my main components, so any help/advise is greatly appreciated.

I use my pc for work/video editing/gaming

Hello and welcome to the OC3D forums, your PC base choice in the Corsair 900D with all the X99 gear is more than beautiful in my eyes, but that depends on what the configuration Caselabs sma8 you had in mind, the Corsair 900D is a sleek looking case with excellent mounting options and vast amounts of space, but the Caselabs cases have huge mounting options and configurations.

As far as your custom loop goes I can't personally comment but I know that some of our other members will give you feed back real soon, we have some real veterans amongst us when it comes to custom loops. ;)

Thanks for the reply, I think i will be going for the 900D as my budgets a little bit streched, And i would love some help and advice on the watercooling side as im still a bit of a novice when it comes to watercooling.

I built my first ever waterloop a few years back off the back of one of toms videos, and its still running well now (XSPC Kit in a HAF-X)

So any advice is greatly appreicated as its a lot of money for me to spend, and i want to get the best value for money and the right advice too.

I just cant wait to build it, My mates think im mad spending that much on a pc :D

Phanteks also make decent watercooling cases. Cheaper than the 900D but if you want to go completely mad with a loop then get a 900D.

Before getting into all the finer points of your choices I hope that you are infact very loose with the term 'around' £3000 because your definitely going to go way over that. Fans, fittings, tubing, coolant, pump, backplates, cables etc... are all biblically expensive.

However I do like all of your choices, the EK 980 blocks look amazing and the hardware is undeniably beautiful. In my opinion the case is too big for that amount of power although if there was a 3rd card involved I can see your point. Awesome stuff though, going with the caselabs would make it easier to do a clean good looking build, 900D needs heavy modding before it starts to shine but that's just me.

I am coming to terms with the "£3000" as being a very loose budget, I think i did included the D5 pump in my list of parts, But im still missing Pipes/Fans/Fittings/Braided Cables/Fan Controller and all the finishing touches which i know can rack up very quickly.

I want to do a hardpipe system, so some bending will be involved

In regards to the EK blocks ive chosen, Does everyone think its good to go with the nickel look over the copper, As i really love the look of those nickel blocks.

Also some advice on good braided cables and some advice on fittings and tubing is also much appreciated.

I will also at some point be looking at buying a 3rd GTX 980 but not yet, as im running out of body parts to sell ^_^

New at this too, I have just ordered all my stuff. These guys are so right, My budget started at $3k, and ended at $5400, so make sure you plan a good bit of wiggle room when you start picking components. I was originally going to do an x99 build. After really getting FPS tests in games between 40 PCIE lanes and 16, it seems to me at least that the difference is negligable if even there. The benchmarks that use those 6 cores do see a difference, but I really don't think I will ever regret not going to the x99 platform in this build. So you can drop a bit off your build right there and go z97, might give you more room for your water loop, and with the exception of benchmarks, and all that video stuff (maybe you do that) you won't be missing much.
Edit: Also realize unless things are different in the uk?? You aren't going to get 980's quickly, mine are backordered from amazon 3-5 weeks, and I am far from first in line.
