Alright, thought I needed a bit of a change from AMD, so I got the best/cheapest i5 base system...

Gigabyte P55M-UD2 .. £80

Intel Core i5 750 OEM .. £140

2 x 2GB Ripjaw 2000 CL9 .. £72

Modded 775 Stock cooler .. PITA, but free :)

First impressions...

3Ghz prime95 stable @ 1.056V (VID 1.175V)

4Ghz bootable @ 1.235V

Unfortunatly CPU intensive benchmarks would crash instantly :(

4Ghz benchmark stable @ 1.280V

Waiting for better cooling before I try anything else...

I am impressed!!!!!!

Looking good! But yea, need a proper cooler, getting up close to 80 degrees is a bit risky!

Im hopefully ordering my i5 CPU and RAM this friday, can pretty much fund the build selling my old kit and a few other bits and bob :) Seeing stuff like this makes me think its a worthwhile upgrade!

On some review they say the stock cooler is really small, so go for something better than the stock cooler
