Boardy's FX55

Ok so I got very bored of waiting for my phase lol.

Only have the stock cooler for this chip atm so I'm not pushing it too hard, but here's where I am atm.

http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc?id=71000

I'm going for 3Ghz on stock cooler and 1.425v max, it's sitting on stock cooler and 1.35v atm. I'm impressed with this chip already.

Go for 214x14 - the lower FSB will produce less heat Boardy mate.

LDT volts could stay at stock.

Disable Nvidia Network (run yukon marvell instead), COM1, IRDA and Sil SATA.

WK13 FX55 - doing 3ghz on stock cooled air..........marvellous ;)

Exactly like that mate :)

What volts - update ur CPUID to v1.31

Thats great set of temps there mate, now load it up with pifast or summit and see if the temps rise is nice too :)

I'll run them later, I'm gonna play SWG for a while now tho lol. I've set it back down to 2800 (234x12) @1.35v for now. I know it's pretty stable at that.

Right well been running MBM5 Heat Up for about 15min and the max temp was 50 degrees 100% loaded the whole time.

Dammit, I need my phase soon :(

Well just hit 3.1Ghz on this beast lol. Didn't get a verification for it but I WILL get one!!

I can't believe how good this chip is. It's still on the stock cooler ffs lol.

2-2-2-5 for bh-5 is nt that good lol, not to put a downer on yr good clocks ,what about dropping yr multi to 13 and rasing fsb, more heat but what the heck push it harder lol

Phil

Ok so whats tighter than 2-2-2-5 for BH5 then? I've never seen anyone get tighter timings @ 230Mhz.

Also if you wanna overclock your processor to pushing past 50 degrees feel free but I think I'd like my processor to see the day my phase change comes. I wasn't trying to break any world records here, I was doing the overclocker thing of seeing how far you can push something.

You may not be impressed with 3.1Ghz on an AMD stock cooler but I'm pretty bloody impressed!!

BH-5 Vs CH-5- I`m at 1.5-2-2-0 at 268, 3.4V Can BH-5 clock higher? (I`ve never used it, hence i`m asking)

I`ve always considered them the dual-diamonds in the RAM market?

Ah right well that cud b one reason I can't get much tighter timings. I'm only pushing 2.9v thru the RAM atm cos I need to get some heatsinks for it :(

There is a fan blowin on em but I don't like pushing too much thru my BH5 without sinks on. They are too good to risk blowing up in my books.

I don't risk components cos I'm not loaded so can't replace everything very easily. Hence why I'm very reluctant to push this chip cos I know it has more in it, even on the stock cooler but anymore and I'm gonna pop it I can tell.

Okay lets get one myth absolutely sorted here (sorry people, don't shoot the messenger) - unless you are running an EXPERT mobo - there's not a DFI board out there right now that runs true CAS1.5

That aside - where people are running 2-2-2-x where X is lower than 5 - they are sacrificing memory bandwidth versus tight timings - the true balance is 5 or 6. This is proven running various bandwidth benchies and you do suffer.

Okay, volts....... it differs, it's proven that active cooling with one or two 80mm fans running directly onto the ram the last 3mhz of an overclock get more stability when u drive 3.6v into it.

However, boardy is on air and higher FSB will push temps up and probably requires more volts to achieve the same clocks.

At this point it's all about balance and whilst 265+ Mhz is best performance for BH5, the balance is to get max overclock with best MHZ without creating too much heat (given that stock cooling is used).

WK13 FX55 is one rare azn wonderful puppy, giv it chance to grow before we let it race - rememebr this is the FX55 that got me the scores ;)

I spent more hours than I care to admit messing with my Redline and got a small increase (and I mean SMALL) from Tres to 0. Also, you`re right, non-Expert, and in general, A64 cant run true 1.5- it defaults to "approximately 2" when set to 1.5, but its slightly less than it, so helps. I got a small boost from changing that.

Plus...the most important thing... it looks good in a sig :p

I might get a few MHz more from changing my CAS ffrom 1.5 to 2, and that`ll be more beneficial- the difference is small.

ATM, i`m trying to break 27 seconds SuperPi at 3GHz, so spent a lot of time in A64 tweaker.

I agree is looks great in the sig.

Try changing the zero for a 5 or 6 in CPC or 3dmark (especially 05 and 06) K404 - could see an improvement there - not sure about 1m superpi but you 'could' see a difference in 32m too ;)

hey, i'm hitting 2.8GHz with my FX-55 on air. idle at 39c-40c and load at 55c and its a Clawhammer :O
