Boardy's come back

Well after a while of inactivity I've started benching again. I've been a busy little bunny to say the least, with emails and calls all over the place but it finally got me somewhere.

I spoke to the MD of Intel UK on the phone and I'm now Intel supported with an X6800 ES hopefully reaching me by the 29th and then a QX6700 ES in January at some point. I've also been talking to ATi and nVidia but they are very hard to convince.

I figured if I'm gonna bench then I need some other hardware so I got sent an Asus P5B for benching single card graphics with a promise of the Intel 975 BX2 board in new year for multiple GPU.

Here's a few pics I've taken with my mobile of me testing the board with my E6600 yesterday evening. I do have a CPU-z of what I got out of the E6600 with no mods on the board but I'll post those later.

Equipment -

E6600 28B Retail

Asus P5B "Vanilla"

1Gb PC2-6400 Team Xtreem "Custom Shop"

Connect3D X1950XTX

Tagan 520W PSU

40Gb IDE HDD

Custom made phase change with Chilly1 evap

Insulation on this board is a doddle, took me all of 15min to get a good seal with some armaflex tape and the Chilly1 doughnut, no DC4 left so I just whacked it on and this is what I got with the first mount.

Evap was sitting at -62 the whole time, even with 1.65v shoved through the E6600 just to see if that would raise the temps a little.

Interesting mix - which phase cooler are you using?

It's good that someone in the UK can get free stuff finally to work with - it certainly releases the burden of cost and the associated risks (I am sorry mr Intel that one blew up may I please have another?) and gives you a free license to try whatever you want.

Team EPUK needs the boost thats for sure.

I still got irons in the fire - but xmas is a prioriyty for me and family commitemnts are the priority for my partner in crime.

I shall be watching your progress with a great deal of interest (quote form Attack Of The Clones - Palpatine to a very young Anakin).

Good luck as you embark on this new adventure - may the force be with you.

Festive luck.

Cheers mav :)

It's my custom single stage, big compressor, big condensor, and 402a. It's the first time I've actually had a chance to really play with it since moving house, and it outperforms my expectations of it.

It took me a great deal of time getting stuff but now that time has paid off. It's nicce to be able to sit back and think I won't have to actually buy a CPU again for at least a year lol.

May the force be with you mav, have a gd xmas, and I'll see you on the other side ;)

Nice to have you back m8.That cooler does the business too, very nice.

It looks very. . . erm. . professional. . .

If my wife saw that she'd have a fit!

Good luck witht eh overclocking (I guess thats what your doing. .. )

Sorry guys, it seems my hosting has been suspended for some reason. I'm in a rut atm after being made redundant recently, I've taken some time away from everything and spending some time in Lincoln, with the very likely possibility of moved here soon. I'm still checking the forums and stuff.

I had some results at the LN2 event and all the posts were on the teamUK site, which was also on my hosting package. Stupid hosts have shut down my server for some reason and I really don't want to deal with it right now.

I'll report back later.

Sorry to hear about that mate, sux when it happens and I hope you find yourself in employment again soon mate.

As for TEAM UK - although I was instrumental in the beginning I soon began too see that the site detracted from here a bit, proving that there is not enough depth in the UK to sustain another enthusiast site and still compete against the rest of the world toe to toe. I am not sad to see it go at this point in time - great concept, bad timing, maybe as the UK scene progresses TEAM UK will be a proposition worth considering - That being the case TEAM UK could be hosted here.

The only issue with having Team-UK hosted at 1 site is that other's maybe less willing to contribute.

There's a few overclocking based sites in the UK, pretty sure many of them wouldn't be willing to have their results pooled into as they would see it "Team EPUK".

It's better to have it as a seperate entity from any of the overclocking sites, that way no-one can see it as "benching for a competitor".

Anyway, sorry for the OT. Sorry to hear about the site/job etc mate. Hope its all sorted soon :)
