Blowhole in a Lian-Li PC-A05B

hi all, noob here :yumyum:

I'm a lan gamer and i'm about to start a new rig. I've fell in love with the A05B from Lian Li for it's small form. The only problem I've read with this case is the fact you get a hot pocket towards the upper rear of the case.

Remedy? I thought a 120mm blowhole.

Here's a picture of one somebody else had done. I think i'd move mine a little further back... but this is the problem.

How? :(

I don't have any of the tools (no dremel, no drill, no holesaw, nada)... but I'm prepared to get some stuff for this job. I really want to go through with it! So I guess my questions are:

1) How would I do it myself? What tools would I need to buy, where from, and is there any tips you could give me?

2) Is there a store I could get the A05B at with a blowhole pre-cut to my specification? I'm so worried i'll screw this up, I don't want to cut an oval by accident and screw up this awesome case =(

Nice to see you joined up mate.

To do that yourself you need a 114mm bi-metal hole saw, a drill and (i think) 4mm bit. Along with ruler, masking tape and the mesure 900 times cut once attitude.

Alternativly WatercoolingUK or AquaPCs both offer blowhole cutting services at decent prices. Just send off the case (or drill out the rivets and just the top pannel, provided you can re-attach it) and leave it to them.

.

Id get 2 cut next to each other if i were you. Then you got the option of adding a rad if you do decided to watercool :).

Hi Ham :) nice talking to you last night.

Yes, I've had a quick scout around and I've found somebody with the case in stock, that will do the cut for £12.00; I thought this was pretty reasonable since a 114mm holesaw bit costs about that without the drill, or even the arbor!

I'm still considering watercooling, especially with it being moved all the time I'm not sure it's a good idea for me :/ -- plus I've never done it before. I'm scared at just contemplating it :]

Thinking about it, I may ask them to quickly drill some holes for handles as well 8) since it's going to be carried about a bit.
