So I have gotten myself a tad bit confused, doesnt UV light kill bacteria and algae, also damaging to the eyes.

Are the UV lights modified to some extent? and does it actually still help with regards to keeping the loop clean?

Artificial UV lights are far less aggressive than natural UV, but you'll tend to find that these cathode kits are referred to as NUV "Near-Ultraviolet" which is not the same as actual "blacklight" UVs because the wavelength is substantially weaker, as far as "Would it keep your loop clean?" I very much doubt it would have a noticeable effect, you're better off with a good quality Biocide or Killcoil.

thanks! Learn something new every day :) Also I am going to be trying XSPC's E6 uv blue coolant (might be a thermaltake re brand)
