Well looks as though the big players are gonna finally revise BIOS to something better that supports at least 32bit and might actually speed up Windows.

In the past, these companies gave presentations projecting phenomenally revolutionary future applications, such as on-board firmware with autonomic, or "self-healing," functionality, or even ideas vastly more fantastic, plucked from science fiction - such as making Windows faster. Their objective has been to intensify public interest in an initiative whose ulterior motive was to unseat the BIOS chip. But after two decades of trying, these companies realized it hasn't worked. So what they intend to do now is coalesce toward achieving the single task that will advance their individual, unique goals
