BIOS Chip colouring - Cause for Concern?

I was just dusting off the rig and noticed a strange greenish/yellow mark on one of the chips between the battery and the top PCI slot.
As far as I can distinguish it's a MXIC BIOS chip. I can't see much more than that whilst the rig is assembled.

I've not seen the mark on it before and just wondering if it's a cause for concern and what it could possibly be? Do chips just go bad? Or could it be oxidisation or something? It's not overly humid here.

Any advice appreciated.
It's a Gigabyte Z77x-UD3H

Once I post this I'll power down, let it cool and see if I can clean or scrape it off.
Have any of you guys had similar experiences? What does this chip actually do? If it fails is it terminal for the rig or just a feature I can't use?
Cheers
Jimma

Completely normal, In some factories they put yellow dots on the corners of chips to signify which way round it goes in i.e which end is which or if said chip passed a quality test although they are usually removed before the finished product is sent out.

Thanks for that - This one hasn't always been there though and the marking isn't on my previous photos so that's why I'm concerned.

This was earlier this year (sorry about the quality it's rubbish)

EDIT - I'm an idiot. The chip always had a dot (found another pic from earlier) Thanks Dice!

Guess this thread is okay to delete!

Very odd, Could be a heat sensitive dye maybe ?

I use to work in a factory boxing up chips of a type, They were crappy car stereo chips mainly among other types, Fairly low end stuff and the ones that made the grade had little yellow dots on the corners, The ones that came down the conveyor line that were blank were put into a box and I assume put in the bin.

Yeah like you said it was normal so I edited my post. I found a better 'old' photo and you could just see the yellow spot. I'm quite relieved tbh I was thinking new mobo = new CPU/Ram $$

Thanks for the advice :)
