Big Storage

Part of my job, I meant to take pics of the whole environment but totally skipped my mind! I'm back there all next week, so I'll try and get some then! :)

Well the cab on the right contains the engines, and the one of the left is disk, there's room for expansion of 3 more disk & engine cabs either side. An engine will support up to 120 disks, and I think the whole thing can scale out to a max of 1.5 petabytes (we've got a long way to go yet ;) ). Under the hood we have about 80 disks (mix of 7.2k 2TB, 15k 300GB and 100GB SSD) giving us around 40TB and 20k IOPS. She's a beauty.

Really takes the thunder out of my project lol. I'm sitting at ~5TB and 3.6k IOPS. Any idea on budget for your project? $75k?

Well toss me a bone, 100k? 150k? I have no idea, enterprise gear such as this is above my pay grade.

Holy @##$&@#! Told you I had no idea lol.

I'm using it as a shared datastore for VMware.

None are on the SAN right now. Waiting for Dell to verify my setup before I start moving servers from local storage. Will also be converting physical to virtual. Probably end up with 30 or so for now. Only licensed for up to 50. May end up also hosting for other local agencies.

Excuse me while I....um....
