Been using the freezer trick to improve BH5 stability at higher clocks.

Got it bench stable at 272 (from 270) usign orange slots and appeared to have hit the 'wall'.

Tried the yellow slots and can run 274 @ 2-2-2-6 @ 3.6v (+.2v in BIOS) fully stable 5 passes - will do a proper torture test over the weekedn but thats benchable - so I have gained 4mhz on the ram (2x512mb stix) and hope to be able to bench now at 274*13 :)

I also think that 275mhz is burnable on these babies.

Should up the re-sale value when the time is right ;)

expect to see a full set of benchies when I get me 7800's back from shigsy.

Not sure that my cpu can handle more than 272*13 though but gotta be worth a go.

Might run superpi tomoz before hand.

Is it a case of the colder the better?

You could alway try using your prommy head to freeze them

Yes I used teh freezer trick.

Before which in the orange slots I was 268mhz fully stable but 270mhz benchable. Then after a full 24hrs in the freezer I was 270 stable 272 fully benchable (3d benchies not superpi).

Changing to the yellow slots I am now error free at 274mhz, would be benchable at 275 but I think my cpu limit is 273x13 (possibly 272x13 for 32m superpi).

All in all a real successful sabbatical from benching whilst I tweaked the RAM perfomance.

I lurve BH5 :D

hm.... freezer trick? [img']http://www.extremeprometeia.com/forum/images/smilies/confused.gif[/img]

The freezer trick is where you pop your ram into a fully sealed back (I used two) and then leave in teh fast freeze compartment of your freezer for 24hrs - the idea is that shrinking the die in the cold actually 'repairs' some of the traces damaged by re-compressing them together due the the cold.

Then take em out leave to defrost at room temperature for a couple of hours (still in the bag to prevent condensation) check for condensation then re-install into your machine and away you go.

It's not guaranteed but it has been known to bring faulty ram back to life and (as in my case) enable you to squeeze every last bit of performance from your ram.
