i have a fatality board and can only mange 3.4v on the ram but is this enough for me to bother getting BH-5 ram???

Yep should be enough to get to about 250mhz 2-2-2-6. I've got 2x512Mb of corsair pc3200 BH-5 for sale. PM me if you're interested.

found original bios that goes to 3.55v on ram.......is it worth flashing back?????

It certainly is - the ram I'm sending you will memtest stable at 260 2-2-2-6 with 3.55V.

By the way welcome to the forums and enjoy my ram.

thanks 4 the warm welcome......and the ram ;-)

BTW how does that 57 clock under a chilly 1 modded gt?

Also have you considered buying a pair of 7800s and selling that 6800 because you could be quite an asset to our benching team.

i get just over 3.5GHz out of it but thats with rubbish RAM.......i was gunna buy another xfx 6800 ultra 512MB soon.....do u not think thats a good idea?????......i borrowed some Kingston BH-5 about a week ago and got a 24.5xx 1M superpi @about 240ish htt :D

That's a pretty nice pi time for 235*15 or whatever you were using. What week is it because with a chilly you should be getting about 3.6 benchable. What voltage are you using?

Concerning graphics cards - the 6800ultra 512 was a bit of a flop for the money it cost. It looks like they cost about £340 still and 7800GTXs cost £330 new so if you can sell your current one for £250-£300 then I'd go for a pair of 7800GTXs.

its a week 22...and i use 1.70v........so u dont think a pair of xfx 6800 ultra 512MB's would do the trick wen it comes to benchin cos a pair of 256MB's do pretty well........

Aye PiNEaD certainly has some awesome kit for benchin :)

How ya going on with the RAM mate?

took the pc5000 back cos couldnt get it going right......just waitin for some corsair BH-5 of Gollum4444.......hope its here in the mornin cos Gray Moles callin in tommorrow

The 6800's will do you proud - but in benchies the 7800's will produce much urine over the 6800's.

They also run cooler and use less power too - which is good for gaming and 24/7 running.

and idea of the improvements you can expect are like this - with you kit now with 6800's in sli I would expect:

40k in 01

25k in 03

12k in 05

With 7800's you should get:

46k in 01

33k in 03

15k in 05

Not to mention u can run any game with 8xAA and 4xAF in 1600x1200 at more than 125fps (nvidia optimised) or well over 90fps with any other game and not much slower if you choose higher resolutions and thats at stock ont he 7800's in SLI.

Cheers

Mav

Well my point is that the extra 256 of fast ram makes the 6800 cost more than the 7800 despite giving poorer results. If you can sell your current 6800 for a sensible amount the 7800s are the better pick

Sorry I misinterpreted the question.

To answer:

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE PURCHASE 512MB 6800 CARDS!!!

THE RAM DOES NOT CLOCK AS HIGH AND THE PERFORMANCE IS ACTUALLY SLOWER THAN THE 256MEG VERSIONS.

FOR THE MONEY YOU ARE BETTER OFF BUYING 7800GT'S OR REALLY YOU WANT TO INVEST IN 7800GTX'S

Hope this helps to clarify

Mav

Well he's not going to SLi a 256 and a 512 is he mav?

If you're willing to buy another 512 ultra you might as well spend less and get a 7800GTX and use the money you saved to try and upgrade your current card to a 7800GTX. Any chance you can RMA for refund or is it old?

Gollums so clever  (actually he is, he's off to Cambridge u know) - think beyond that my friend - I meant sell what you have and get sli 7800GTX's

Mav

Thanks Mav. I'd already said that and I said it again :p. Your realisation that he had a 512Mb card should not have changed the fact he should get 7800s.
