Talk about the best graphics company around i sent my daughters failed 8600gts in for rma, i have just phoned them for an update and the person on the phone has just told me they will probbley be sending me a gtx285 as a replacment because they are low on stock.I honesty cant belive it now the question is could i run a 285 for physx and give my daughter the 8800gt i have will my pcp&c 750 run a 5870 and a 285?

I've heard of 8800GTXs being upgraded to stuff like GTX280s in the past as users had real trouble with them and stuff, but this is amazing.

I'd expect a mid range card, like the GTS was, in return.

As for running the GTX285 as PhysX, not sure if your PSU have enough connectors? Might be pushing itl.

You can't run an ATI card and nvidia for PhysX from what I understand. Nvidia disabled this feature. There might be a way to hack it though, but I don't know how.

Anyway, a GTX285 is complete overkill for PhysX. Just sell it on or something.

Yes, Nvidia did try to disable Physx when an ATI card was present, but there has been a few workarounds posted afaik.

There are definitely ways of running a Nvidia as Physx but a ATI as main on Win7. Quite a few unofficial "fixes" floating around if you fancy giving it a go.

my pcp&c 750 does have enough conectors it has 2 8pin and 2 6pin i just wasnt sure about the 750 watt

Other than that, there really isn't that great a need for processing power to use a GTX285. A 8800GT is overkill from the testing I did.

yep thats what he said to me on the phone i was stunned,im not getting my hopes up like because things dont normaly work like that for me.

tbh i would still be happy if they sent me a 9800gt/gts250 as a replacment so anythings a bonus.

Agreed.

XFX (usa) replaced a 8600GTS with a 9800GT which I thought was good.

GTX285 is outstanding.
