BFG Drops From Graphics Market

not really surprising .... its a cut throat business and were seeing less and less of brands like XFX and BFG and more of newer upstarts Zotac and many ASUS cards about .... shame ... less competition burdens our wallets more....

i thought BFG were the big guys of the graphics card business? :S

within dropping out, i think its a huge risk on there side, figuring XFX tried to enter the psu market and tottally flunked it.

Could also be the fact nvidia have flunked this time around?

Couldn't have made it up better myself.

Although I've seen BFG cards pass by the office, I also saw XFX ones which didn't come out. I sneakingly get the impression these days that "manufacturers" don't even stick their own stickers on cards and some amd/nvidia office do it prior to shipping. Should really refer to them as cardboard box manufacturers.

PSUs ? What a massive market to settle in !?!

Bigger card "manufacturers" are those with the non-reference license.

Gutted! Ive had a couple of BFG cards in the past which were good enough (but ultimately pretty similar to other companies cards), but when one of them died I think BFG provided me with the fastest replacement Ive ever had for a PC component lol, had a new one (that was also a slight upgrade) in about 5 days!

They're definately going to be missed, but good look to them with the PSU market, not too sure myself. Maybe stick with prebuilt systems

Very sad sad news indeed - their RMA Service was astounding - second to none and their products were also very very good.

This is certainly due to the crappy product released by Nvidia to compete with the 5 series. I always had Nvidia Cards (BFG Cards) but lately moved forward and got me 2 x 5770 Crossfire - astounding performance with no glitches whatsoever.

I sincerely hope that Nvidia pulls up it's sleeves and start working seriously on the FERMI - I have seen one operating and the owner was not very happy with it - infact he expected a substantial boost over the 5850 - which he could not detect. We did not even see the boost as described in many reviews we read - very sad indeed.

Not really surprised that they have dropped out. Can't be economical making really expensive current gen cards if no one buys them. If Nvidia had come out with a 5770 rival or similar I get the feeling many Nvidia partners would be feeling a little more comfortable.

Agreed. Maybe the 465 will be that card

Hopefully, much as I respect the 5770, it would be nice to have some competition at that price point, otherwise us enthusiasts tend to get ripped.

Not sure how I feel about this. First off here in the States I've never heard good stories about them regarding service. Second everyone I've talked to has had problems with their cards having problems either pre-maturely or right after the warranty is up. Now if eVGA stopped, I would die inside. :P

It's pretty obvious why this happened really. BFG were a strict Nvidia partner and had been since day one.

With Nvidia delaying the 4 series and cancelling 2 series production early it didn't really leave BFG with any bread and butter.

XFX make Radeon cards as well as the Nvidia ones so recent times would have been quite fruitful for them and eVGA make a selection of so so motherboards etc for people with more money than sense. BFG did very little apart from overclocked cards and the return rate on the 2 series when overclocked was massive (I spoke to a bloke in their RMA department in Wales).

When Nvidia are leaving you zero headroom to stand out from the rest then you end up in the same bracket as everyone else. BFG cards were super expensive for the small overclocks you got but the warranty made up for it. Bit hard for them to do anything with Fermi really. But I would imagine by the time they were offered it was too late.

Shame, I still love my 5900FX.
