Hey Boys 'n' Girls!

My BFG gtx has just arrived... installed the card straight away. Left the waterloop unattatched to the gfx card to start with, just to make sure it works!

And guess what... ran a 3dMark03 and the default clocks are...

500 / 1300

I really hope there is plenty left in this sucker as i may have been blessed with a gem here!! ;)

Why didn't you get the Gainward.? 520/1300, bet it cheaper than a BFG as well.

Anyways, have fun on water with it.;)

Does Gainward have a lifetime warranty?

Keep up updated Cashman.

No.

Whats the point in a lifetime warranty with you guys. You keep your hardware a few weeks at most.;)

Grov mate, I really wanted the Gainward one but the site I was getting it off kept having server problems and in the end I think I ordered 3x Gainward gtx's.

Obviously not wanting to pay the £1000 bounty I asked them to cancel my order and then choose the BFG from another site.

I had to pay an extra £30 for it but atleast they would send it to my work adress which is far easier for me!

Are the default Gainward clocks 520? I thought they were 470?

What sort of 3dMark03 scores should I be getting?

Im well tempted to get another one of these and try a little sli action!!

It will be wasted on this monitor, but hey, I'd love to anyway.. then I have an escuse for another monitor!! ;)

Yeah Nick, thats it.

I have a great monitor, only got it at christmas but what with the power of these new toys (and SLI) it suddenly appears small. Its a Viewsonic VX912B, 19" TFT with 12ms response @ 1280x1024. So its not bad at all... but its not 24" Widescreen bootyfulness! ;)

Can anyone link me to the best version of Coolbits etc for the gtx's ;) ta

Oki doki... here goes the first test.

Just run the 3dMark03 again with a slightly improved CPU clock and got just shy of 18,000

http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=4113692

I know this is not gonna be amazing but the card is at stock (funnily enough it now reads core=275mhz and mem=1300). and the CPU is at 2.8ghz.

Im running 2x1GB of RAM at the conservative 3-3-3-8 (2.8v) 255fsbx11. So im sure id get higher scores with my 2x512mb of TCCD.

One asre about this card seems to be the placement of the Power regulaters. Their heatsink gets VERY hot and unfortnately the placement of this id right on front of the DFI chipset fan.. hence the fan sucks all the HOT air onto the chipset! Chipset temps used to always be below 45.c now they are upto 60.c!

anyone know what the deal is between 2d & 3d clock speeds when using Coolbits 2?

I tried to set the clock speeds both to 460 and the machine froze. 460 for 3d is fine but it seems the slider is very different for 2d.. the default for this seems to be 275mhz??

Yeah i thought the clocks were 470/1300, but it's 520 cause it's a golden sample. Even guys on XS don't hit that stock!!!!

Your scores seem about right. I get a tad over 8400, stock cpu and i got about 17200 on 03 with stock CPU.

Ive only had it 2 days, so iam still learning lol. Haven't had an Nvidia card since my Ti4600!!!!

What temps do you get?

Mine also ready as 275, must be the 2d clock, and the orb needs updating to recognise the 7800.

Grov mate,

I was getting aroung 55.c idle with it.

However, I've just slapped it into my watercooling loop and now im idling at 35.c (which is the mine it seems).

Now Im getting terrible throttling and the card barely breaks 150 fps in the first test of 3dMark03... now I gotta find you how the hell to get rid of it!

one option seems to be to turn off all the fans on my rad (well 7v) and maybe get the CPU doing some stress tests to heat the water up.

I have posted the cure in various threads - can't be arxxxd to type it all again - but have a snoop around the answer is here...... in mor ethan one space!!

Dang, 19k with only a bit extra on memory compared to me, i need to slap my X2 into gear, lol, i only got 17.2k first run. No experience with Nvidia on benching, eheh.

You were getting 55C idle as well? k cool yeah im sure the temps are normal, especially with the clocks and wether.
