Bf3 help

Hey dudes. I have bf3 up and running on my half assembled system and i am wondering. Its it hard as hell for anyone else. I was a BOSS on bfbc2 on the 360 at any class and i used to play 1942 and desert combat on the pc so i have experience with te series but this game seems to be rediculous. I have only just unlocked heat seekers for the plane and jet but have found for the chopper tey are impossible to fire. No lock on box comes up and i cant seem to fire them and its busting my nuts. Also. I was a ace sniper on the 360 but on this it seems just shy of impossible. I cant tell the range that the rounds are going and how far they are arcing and its doing my bap in. Anyone else have any annoyances with it

I was absolute shite when I started. You just need to play more and you will get better. BF3 is my first multiplayer fps experience (hard to believe I know), but I started to play BF3 from the start so I've been keeping up with the pace. There are a lot of awesome players now since the game is pretty much established. I have hardly used jets/choppers so I can't really help you there.

Prob cant help im using a logitech mx320 mouse and keyboard combi to tide me over and that my mouse surface is the box for a 560ti on top of a r4e box on top of the mgs hd limited edition box ontop of a swiveling footstool and the keyboard rests on my knee

One tip i can give you for flying/using the eod bot, get a 360 pad, im an above average pilot in the choppers (not to bad at jets but still pretty bad tho that might be as i havent even managed to get 1 upgrade for them on either pc OR 360 in like 100 hours of play time) with a 360 pad but with the keyboard and mouse its just plain bad, also the player skill on average for pc is much higher than on 360 ive noticed (mainly due to it being slightly clunky/slow on the 360 at a guess)

if you're used to the 360 controller get one of those and use it for everything

I have no issue with kb+m im tre good on tf2. Im a very competent gamer i just seem to be having trouble with bf3. Could just be a matter of not bein used to it and take time to become 1337 as some people say (i dont)

jets is best on the pad, the rest you need to suck it up until you get used to it.

knowing the maps is the biggest part to any fps game and is the reason i try and get them at launch so nobody knows the maps you know. once you do its game over as you know what they will do (for the most part) and where they will go.

I feel your pain buddy, i was pretty good on (cough cough) CoD on the 360

and not bad on BFBC2 on the 360.

I have began to leave the joypad of 6yrs and learning kb/m and i am just getting owned and cloned every match, where i feel im 5 seconds behind everyone else

As marsey99 mentioned all you can do is just learn the maps that is probably 80% of battle. . The things is with games like BF3 or CoD, unless you realy put the hrs in on day 1, you will get left behind in the MP (and believe me im suffering too). I dont even like getting in grounded vehicles lol.

I think all you can do is try and adjust your playing style to the game and try

and find the sweetspot of your playing style and the games' rhythm

i have certainly noticed that Consoles and PCs version of the same games are very different, I thought playing CoD on the 360 was an adrenaline needle to the heart every map, but its positively pedestrian to the PC version.

Welcome to BF3 it's just a typical EA console port one minute you can completely own it and the next the hit boxes aren't where you are shooting at, don't blame yourself there isn't much you can do about it other than just grin and bare it.

Heat seekers are pointless, you're better off just slowing down and using the nose cannon to take out choppers. They are also pretty pointless against jets. So just aim well and stick to the cannon.

But infantry combat is a complete mess in BF3, largely due to complete BS hit detection(plus lag compensation)- it's client side, that's also why there were so many hackers in the winter (the hacks seem to be removed now). Just look at this-

The way lag compensation works is that server "predicts" the player's position based on his movement direction and speed(this was confirmed by Demize, one of the devs), so if the server screws up (which happens a lot) you'll actually appear on the enemy's screen a split second before you actually for example run out of cover like in the video. Or it can screw up the other way around and you get killed a second later after going behind cover because the client receives the hit notification with quite a noticeable delay. This is especially apparent on 64-player servers when the server is under heavy load.

I just tend to think that each game has it's own feel because of the engine it runs on. It takes a little while to get used to the peculiarities of each game but once you do it's not a big deal. I still think BF3 is awesome.

For flying the jets with kb/m what I found best is setting the up to the spacebar so instead of pulling the mouse towards you you just set it as space bar but keep it on mouse. And only use the mouse for up when aiming down on jets. My loadout in jets is air radar rocketpods and flares. I've tried flying with a logitech extreme 3d pro and kb/m is far better by a longshot and when I was on xbox. And bf3 is not a console port. I was a boss on bfbc2 on xbox going 50+ kills a game in rush 90% of the time, BF3 engine is just terrible imo it looks somewhat pretty but there are alot of bugs. And when you're in heli's up high or in the distance there is this massively bright glare blocking almost everything for me. I love bf3 but it's just this engine is so different.

Practice your gun skills in like a 32 man Squad DM server tons of noobies to mess with.
