Best way to transfer data from HDD to SDD

Hello, I am trying to upgrade my laptop hard drive to a solid state drive. I recently reformatted for a boost in performance, but I really want to switch to a SDD. What is the best way to transfer the data over to the new drive and is it possible?

You say you reformatted? Then i would just swop the hdd and do a clean install with all the latest drivers. Other options is you could use a clone program and transfer all the files over to the SSD. Most people use their desktops when doing this or you could also use a hdd docking station. Some hdd docking stations even do the clone prosess automaticly.

Check if you could power up a SSD externaly to your lap top and with e-sata

My intel 320 came with an adpter that uses 2 USB ports , and software to clone the drive, just gotta get a drive with a laptop Installation kit, usally cost $10 more
